We had a great stay and highly recommend this motel. It is our second visit here in two years and we had no issues whatsoever - like some of the other people posted about. There is a very cute, yet small courtyard with flowers in front. Parking is easiest in the back of the motel.
The rooms are small, but we did not spend all that much time in them as we were at the beach or downtown walking about the majority of the time. A mini refrigerator and microwave are in the room. There are plantation shutters on the windows, lots of granite tile and mirrors to make the room feel larger along with clean cut Ikea furniture. The room, floors and linens were clean. There were no bugs seen nor any bug carcasses. The air conditioning worked fine. The fridge kept the food cold and the room was cleaned, fresh linens and bed made up daily unless we asked them not too. Some picky people might notice fingerprints on the door and some walls... but the floors, sink, bathroom were clean.
Lupe is older like the previous posts said. However, she did not seem to have dementia to us and we talked to her on the phone before we showed up twice, when we picked up our keys and when we needed another roll of toilet paper. She was very friendly and our bill was correct.
The only complaint I had was my neck hurt after sleeping on the bed. That was not Lupe or the Motel's fault - rather I needed an adjustment before I left and did not get it done. Bring your own pillow if you have neck problems like I do.
I realize that many people who go stay on Coronado are going to be in the upper echelons of the income bracket... but to a family on a budget who would like a nice vacation... on a clean & safe beach... in a town you can walk from one end to the other at night and not get mugged... then this Motel is a great find! We HAVE stayed at horrible places in awful locations... so we know what bad is (think feet turn black walking across the floor and bug carcasses laying about)... in contrast... this Motel is very nice. If you like to spend dollars and have perfection in the form of a large room, mint on your pillow and no kid fingerprints on the door or some walls... then you need to take yourself to one of the other Bed and Breakfasts or hotels that charge upwards of $200-400 dollars a night on Coronado.
Again... We were very pleased and recommend this motel for the second time around (See my first review from Aug 2010).
Room Tip: Rooms to the back are quieter... I have heard rooms to the front are larger.
