“Reasons I did not like this review”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2008

I have stayed here before but this time I was given a room ending in "11". It was supposed to be a one-bedroom. It had a huge porch and a crowded living room/dining area. The "bedroom" was just curtained off from the living room area. No window in bedroom. The bath had a Jacuzzi but bathroom was so small you could barely turn around in it. My biggest complaint was that the bathroom sink was OUTSIDE the bath and did not even have a towel rack. The kitchenette was in the same area -- had a microwave, etc. and a huge refrigerator. The layout was very poor and I could have designed a better one. The computer connection DID NOT WORK -- even in the early morning hours when I like to use it -- 2 or 3 or 4 AM. Always cut you off and you had to keep reconnecting. We told them about it and they said it was the system. Also, I felt this was more of a "studio" than a onebedroom since it was ALL IN ONE ROOM. Would NEVER stay in this type of room again. Have stayed in the TRUE ONE BEDROOM in this resort and it was fine. Cody is the parrot downstairs in the lobby and she is fun to talk to.

We traded our RCI timeshare for this resort and I must say it was one of the best trades we've ever made.
It's right across from Coronado Beach and the famous Hotel Del Coronado. Lots of restaurants and shopping within walking distance and you have full use of the Loews Resort which is about 4 miles down the street. (you also get 3 hours free parking and a discount on food and drinks)
Room was clean and spacious. We had a 1 bedroom but we had 2 balconies which looked out to the Hotel Del and the ocean. Great sunsets right from our room.
Kitchen had a full size fridge, microwave, mini-dishwasher and a 2 burner hot plate (which we never used). There is a gas grill on the roof along with a jacuzzi, sauna and a bunch of lounge chairs. We took advantage of the jacuzzi twice and it was great.
The unit had new furniture and a flat screen tv, dvd player, stereo and another tv in the bedroom. Carpet could be updated and there is some wear showing especially in the hallways, but as others have said you're too busy to spend too much time in the room.
The location of this hotel is the absolute best thing about it. You'll need a car but you're minutes from all the attractions. You can take a ferry to San Diego for $3 pp and a shuttle from the hotel to the pier for $1 pp. Just make sure you get the ferry schedule so you're not stranded.
The front desk staff here is the best. You were treated as if you're the only guest in the hotel. Always a hello and a smile.
I could go on and on but I'll just say that we'll be back here as soon as we can.

We loved it here what says it all is location, location location. Right outside the door is the beach. Cronado is great can't beat the price Liked it so muchbought a Timeshare there. Carpets alittle dated but who stood in the room ??? Anything you want to do in San Diego is across the bridge and off 5. Hotel Del across the street.

We stayed in a two bedroom unit but the second bedroom had only a curtain for a door so if you go as two couples not much privacy for the people in the second bedroom. It is more than a long block to the beach, it is a little bit of a hike and if you are easily tired it can wear you out getting there. I enjoyed Cody the house bird there, but be careful he can bite. The town is really fun to walk around , lots of different little shops and restaurants available. I'm not sure that I would go back though because of the curtain on the bedroom and LONG walk to the beach.

This is our second stay at this resort. My family and I not only enjoy the accomodations that are comfortable and attractive, but we love the area. All units have a mini kitchen thus giving you the option to have some simple meals at home. There is also a barbeque on the patio off the third floor. The beach is a good block away and the DEL is across the street, Coronado is just a beautiful place to hang and relax , and when you want to go into San Diego you are minutes away from all the attractions. It is a small resort , which makes it a family like setting. The pool is about 4 miles away at Lowe's Resort and you also get 30 % off food from Lowes hotel when you are a guest here. Looking forward to my next stay in 2009. Oh yes the staff are helpful and very pleasant especially Edie.

We made reservations 2 months ago for the resort for the week of August 6th. When we checked in, we were sent to a studio room, but we had booked a one bedroom. We called the front desk, and were told they had no one bedrooms available and would call back in a few minutes. They did call back and said that the Loews Coronado (4 miles away) had a room available and it was a Superior room. So we trecked down to Loews....only to be told that it was only for one night only. They called the resort and apparantly the resort "assumed" that it was for the enitre week. So we were basically told that we were screwed after 2 nights. There were no rooms available. But would we go to a resort in Carlsbad? At this point I was livid. I paid $2000 for 5 nights 2 months ago...and we were going to get kicked out after 2 nights from a place that we didn't originally book. I called Hotels.com and were told that someone from the resort would call on Tuesday. No call. I am so disappointed at both Coronado Beach Resort staff and Hotels. com. I will never come back or use that site again.

Resort stay was great! The location of the resort made the trip worth while. In addition, the resort offers many amenities that really add to your trip. (Free bike rentals, internet access). The rooms were decent, but lack modern feel. If you want to be close to the beach and restaurants this is the place you want to stay. And more importantly, the staff was very nice and helpful. Will come back!!!!!!!
