“Great restaurant with Local ingredients”

I had a sandwich with brie and fig on it with truffle fries. The food is very fresh and delicious. It was nice to have a healthy option.

The food and service at Leroys was great. They have a good beer list and their Squash Blossoms were to die for--Great Farm to table food--nice addition to Orange Avenue.

“Great food, poor service and management”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

Great food, mediocre to horrible service. And a manager that does not seem to care.

We ate here twice over Fourth of July week; once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times restaurant was only half full but service took forever. For dinner, long time between appetizer and salad. When we inquired, server thought we wanted our salad served at same time as our entrees. She then brought out our salad, followed only two minutes later by entrees. While timing was off, swordfish was the best I have had in a long time. I ordered a second glass of wine to have with dinner but it never appeared before the end of our meal.

For lunch, two of us sat outside with only two other tables in use. The waiter proceeded to ignore us for the next 10 minutes while chatting it up at another table. When I got up to go inside to inquire about service, he stopped me and said he would be with us in a minute. He then continued to talk to the other table for another 4 minutes before bothering to come to the table. We immediately placed our order. About 10 minutes later, I added a kid's meal to the order (burger for the dog!). After another 20 minutes, the burger came out, but it was another 10-15 minutes before the rest of our lunch came. Tacos and a turkey sandwich should not take 40 minutes to get--think the waiter forgot to place the original order. Whenever we looked inside, we could see the waiter just standing around. Never bothered to come out to ask how our meal was or if we wanted anything else.

The final straw was when I talked to the manager, saying I would rather tell her than talk badly about the restaurant on a public forum. She agreed it was far too long for lunch, but failed to provide any discount or offer dessert or something! While I did not need the discount, such offers go a long way to make up for a bad experience, especially when you do not want to waste 2 hours of your vacation waiting for lunch.

Too bad because food was great but poorly timed service and unresponsive management left a poor taste in my mouth. Too many other restaurants to try on the island and nearby Gas Lamp district.

“Fun place for dinner & drinks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012 via mobile

Coronado needed this place. We visit Coronado a lot. The island has many great food stops along orange ave but a true hangout spot that is relaxing and has a fun vibe is needed. They somehow crafted this place to feel like you're alone which does make it feel like a lounge. Before Leroy's this location was a terrible diner and the food was not good at all. They make you forget about their old occupants and bring you a new vibe. Jennifer was our waitress, She was great. Drinks were good. Food was overpriced but anything owned by Mootime is so that's normal. Expect okay food that comes in very small portions, you must try their fries, expect to pay $100-$160 for 3 people if you want a good meal & drinks. The vibe is what you pay for. We made the reservation on Open Table. Go to Mootime for desert after.

“Boring food trying to be chic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

Hmmmm, unimpressed with everything from wait staff to food selection and taste. The best thing about the restaurant is the front tables overlooking the sidewalk.
