“Beautiful spot, amazing service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

Three generations, ranging in age from 6 months to 85, spent a wonderful four days at the Beach Village. Our villa was beautiful -- nicely furnished and incredible views. But what made our stay so special was the amazing service. From the moment we were met in the parking area for check-in, to the extra hour I requested for checkout, all the staff was amazing. Left my cellphone in the car -- no problem, the valet noticed and brought it to our villa. Asked for a crib -- it was already set up in the room when we arrived. Requested extra plates for a family dinner -- happily delivered. Received attentive service at the pool and the beach -- the drinks were expensive, but so worth it! And the complimentary breakfast at the Windsor cottage was a great spread of fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon, etc.

The Del is a great place for a family reunion because there is so much to do -- my daughter got a massage, my sister took a yoga class, my son-in-law found the nearby gelato shop -- not to mention the pools and the beautiful beach. I highly recommend the Beach Viilage!

This was my 2nd time staying here and I can't wait to come back. I really truly feel at home here. Our first time staying here we had a dinner catered in our room and an in room massage. This time we reserved a fire pit on the beach one evening to roast s'mores accompanied with a bottle of champagne. All the rooms are good size. The bathtubs are quite spacious. Part of staying at Beach Village you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at Windsor cottage which is only open accessible to Beach Village guests. Breakfast is included, however it isn't much of anything. Very basic. We did enjoy a very good dinner there. What is nice about the Windsor is that it is never crowded so you get personal attention by the servers. The location of the hotel is steps away from town and it's right on the beach.
This time around we brought our dogs. Now we don't travel very often with our dogs and when we do we always make sure the hotels are ultra pet friendly. When making the reservations we were told dogs are more than welcome, beds, bowls and snacks will be set up in the room upon our arrival. That wasn't the case. The individual who checked us in seemed surprised when she saw our dogs and almost appalled and made it a point that we have to pay an extra $300 (which we already knew) and would have to eat in because dogs are not allowed on any of the outdoor areas of the property. And if we wanted to take our dogs out with us we would have to go into town. There were no bowls or beds in the room. Not a terribly big deal but don't make a promise to get the reservation completed. Eventually these items were brought to the room after having to make a call. My dogs are not small, medium size if anything so imagine my surprise when they brought us dishes made for a chihuahua. Dog beds were ok but dirty and old. Next time I will have to bring our own dog beds and dishes. There is a pet room service menu which we ordered from. It actually smelled and looked quite delicious. The dog beach is a close distance so they weren't stuck in the room the entire stay. We also did take the dogs out onto the property. There is the Sundeck area where dogs were welcome. The servers brought a water bowl for them and we were able to get something to eat. My only complaint, it's only opens in the afternoon. We also were able to bring the dogs to the Windsor Cottage for breakfast. So I don't know what the person who checked us in was thinking. There should be a better list of areas that welcome pets so we didn't have to go around and ask if it was ok or the staff should be better educated as to their knowledge of how pet friendly their place of employment is. Also I should mention they do offer pet sitting, which we did take advantage of one evening.
Outside of the pet issue my only other complaints (very minor but sometimes it's the little details), there wasn't daily bottled water and the patio was cleaned (dirty wine glass was left out all weekend).
Overall I love this place, not sure if I will bring my dogs back but I will for sure come back. i love all the amenities...pools, spas, hot tubs, firepits, s'mores on the beach, lots of restaurants and bars and it's super close to town.

Room Tip: All the rooms face the beach. You really can't go wrong with whatever you choose. Some are along...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Beach Village. We are delighted to hear much you enjoyed your time at Beach Village. We are honored that you continue to choose us as your relaxation destination. We did, however, regret to read of your challenges with the reception of your canine companions, and express our hope that you will continue to bring them to visit. Although not an excuse, our outward pet-friendliness is relatively new and we are working out the finer details. On your next visit, we trust you will notice marked improvement on all pet-friendly accounts. Most importantly, we remain excited that your whole family can continue to enjoy in the luxury of Beach Village. Thank you for providing this wonderful feedback, which will help us make our non-human guests feel as welcome as our bi-pedal ones.

We were lucky to be upgraded to the Beach Village after we booked the Hotel Del Coronado
I was irritated when they called, but was so pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The room was beautiful with a partial ocean view. Service was great- warm and kind from the valet to the waitstaff at breakfast. We hated to leave!

We stayed in one of the cottages in the Beach Village and it was sublime. The room was comfortable and very clean. The amenities for the Beach Village were outstanding - multiple pools and the Windsor Cottage were all great. The fire pit on the cottage deck was a great plus. Be advised that if you stay in one of the cottages facing the beach you will have constant foot traffic on the walkway right in front of your cottage. That was a big inconvenience for us and worth noting. There is not a lot of privacy in this location. The Cottage breakfast is nice but the Saturday morning service was packed the staff was completely overwhelmed. The concierge staff available in the Cottage was very helpful. Yes, it is quite expensive but the location, room and staff are worth it.

The Del Coronado is the most luxurious hotel where I have ever stayed. From the front desk to every person one meets, it is friendly and bends over backwards to see that your stay is the best.
Even all the hotel shops are refreshing in that you are greeted with a friendly greeting upon entering, the prices are the same as one would find in a nice shopping mall (not over-priced) and
good, quality merchandise of all kinds. The food, staff, service is just top notch and should be for the price. A "once in a lifetime" experience for sure! The view, the beach everything are amazing.

Room Tip: The back side of the hotel (the "old" rooms) face the ocean. They are extremely spacious...

The Del is a historical treasure on Coronado Island on one of California's best beaches. The Beach Villas are to die for, fabulous views, fireplaces, great kitchen, cosy and elegant, perfectly serviced and attentive to details. Loved the seashells on the pillow nightly! So much to do! Great morning jogging or walks for miles on the beach, breakfast outdoors at the fire pit in Windsor Cottage is sublime! Don't miss Point Lobos at sunset. Smores on the beach a perfect! Great golf and tons of activities in San Diego... Don't miss high tea at The Del for a step back in time.

Room Tip: Top Floors of Beach Villas have best panorama views!

We spent a week there the last two summers. The condos allow for a very relaxed vacation. The Windsor cottage is lovely for the morning breakfast and evening cocktail or dinner around the fire pits. Everyone is gracious beyond compare. It's a location that can't be beat.
