This resort offers a fantastic "home base" for exploring many of the best things San Diego has to offer without needing to rent a car: Coronado Island, downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp Quarter, PETCO Park and Seaport Village.
A quick, beautiful bayside walk from your room to the Coronado Ferry Landing and you're within a 15 minute boat ride ($4.25 each way as of the time of this writing) from two great locations off the downtown area. Service, at both the front desk and concierge, was ever-present, friendly, and helpful. Two bars, a restaurant, and a spa were all on-site, though we opted to dine and entertain ourselves elsewhere.
As for negatives, the carpet in our room was in need of replacement, but it's poor condition wasn't a shock considering that the rooms open to an outdoor walkway which is exposed to the elements. Also, the quality of our sleep was somewhat compromised by the air conditioning, which knocked loudly each time it cycled on.
For us, these were minor annoyances that could hardly be held against the great value that this resort offered. At half the price of comparable properties in the downtown area, we expected far less that we received at this great hotel.
