“Our stay at The Colusa Casino Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2008

First let me say that my husband and I chose Colusa Casino for the hotel only. We liked that it was close to the Sacramento Wildlife Refuges we were touring. And we had just stayed at Grazellas in Colusa the night before and it shall be our last ,until they clean the rooms and replace the worn carpets, bedspreads, drapes, etc..

You must enter and leave through the casinos front doors as there is no seperate entrance to the hotel. It is quite a long way to carry any luggage to your room unless you let the valet park for an extra fee.The standard rooms for $99.00 bucks were very clean, and nicely appointed, and had no odor at all of cigarettte smell as they do smoke in the casino itself. It was odd seeing people smoking indoors in California. The staff were always so nice and helpful.

And we really enjoyed the food court buffets for both breakfast and dinner.

I would even say I would stay here again!
Book early, the hotel fills up even on weeknights mid-winter.

  • Liked — nice clean rooms, decent price. All you can eat tasty buffets.
  • Disliked — having to walk thru the stinky smokers in the the casino to get to the attached hotel and resturant.

Wow, I love the brand new Colusa Casino Hotel! I had heard the commercials for Colusa Casino on the radio, so I checked out their website and their suites looked so nice: stone fireplace with a plasma tv on the wall above, and a large jacuzzi. My husband and I could not get off work to go on a real vacation for our 2 year anniversary, so we decided to go here for one night on the weekend. (Just so you know, suites are $189 + tax and rooms are $69 + tax.)

Check in was at 3pm and we wanted to arrive earlier, so I called in the morning and said we'd like to arrive a bit earlier. They checked, and a non-smoking suite was empty, so they said they'd have the maids start working on it right away. We arrived at about 1:30, and our suite was available.

The suite was GORGEOUS. And huge! The color scheme was beautiful, the suite had 1 1/2 bathrooms, and the walk-in shower was huge and beautiful. The bath products, both the shampoo and shower gel and bar soap, smelled great.

We had a problem initially b/c we couldn't view the pay-per-view movie menu on the plasma tv, only on the tv in the bedroom. Plus, the gas fireplace, which was controlled by remote, didn't seem to work. They came up and fixed the fireplace right away, and gave us a $40 discount because we had trouble.

Then, by signing up for the free players club card and gambling a little, we earned 100 points, which also gave us a discount on our room, $20. What's cool too is that when you sign up for the card, you automatically get a $10 credit for slot play.

The buffet we hit near the end of lunch, and it was only okay, but the Wintun steakhouse where we had dinner was excellent. The food was superb, the wine selection was good, the staff was friendly, and it was really not that expensive: dinner for both of us with a bottle of wine, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 2 desserts only cost $70. Both the chicken marsala and the prawn scampi were delicious.

We had an amazing, fun, relaxing time, and I am so glad to be the first one to review this hotel. There is construction there, in the parking lot (the only entrance to the hotel is currently through the main casino entrance), and at one of their eating establishments (which is closed completely for the time being), but it was not obtrusive. Our non-smoking floor did not smell like smoke at all, which was a big deal to me. And the casino had a good variety of games. Fair warning: The Wheel of Fortune game is very addictive!!
