“RV Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

We have a 25 foot trailer and we were parked here for 3 days. Beautiful park. Extremely family friendly. Clean. Beautiful landscaping. Close to everything. People are very friendly. Not the cheapest RV Park but worth what you are charged.

We stayed here three nights in a cabin and loved it. Easy access to Sea World and Zoo. Excellent playground for both kids (6 and 10 yrs). Great pool also. Friendly staff who helped book tours etc. Travelling with kids I would for sure stay here again.

Very nice campground. Prices are rather high, as usual for a KOA, but the service is excellent and the stalls are very nice.

There were a lot of birds, particularly ravens. You might listen to some crowing.

We keep coming back here because it is an affordable way to visit San Diego with the family. The grounds are well landscaped and provide an oasis in the surrounding suburban environment. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They also allow dogs and we brought three of them. There are plenty of activities to keep people of all ages amused, bike riding, swimming or walking around the grounds. We set up tents and use the KOA as our base to get to the beach. The only drawback is unavoidable. The site is located next to the intersection of freeways and air traffic, so there is constant background nose, more noticeable at night and early in the morning.

We were in one of the premium RV spots and were very happy with the facilities provided. The service throughout was unfailingly helpful especially when we had a problem with our hose, and the store was well stocked. You do need to be careful when driving round this very busy site as there are hordes of children at play. We used a taxi to get downtown as RV parking is not easy in the town centre.

We recently stayed at this park and it is one of nicest KOA we have stayed in. The park setting is "park like" with lots of trees and grass. We did not see one ant and we stayed here for four nights. The park is located beside two highways however, the noise is minimal to none. We did hear some helicopters fly over...they were always in the early evening. Our only complaint was the WIFI service. It did not work well and it was one the main reason we decided to stay here. I will definitely stay here again when I am travelling with my own WIFI service.

Than you so much for your review, we are quite glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and enjoyed the surrounding landscape and area. I understand that you had a Wifi issue during your stay and thank you for your comments. During the last couple of weeks we have been having some hardware difficulty with the system and it was indeed unstable for a time. We believe that we have made the appropriate repairs and have re-stabilized the system. I am confident that upon your return you will find a better browsing experience with our WiFi. Thank you again for your review and we look forward to seeing you again.

Yes you may have ants in your pants after visiting this KOA. Beautifully situated in the city of Chula Vista close to shopping, and bicycle paths, and to major freeways to get you around the San Diego area quickly, this is a great place to be. Unfortunately sugar ants like it too.

Campers are warned to take precautions to keep ants at bay, such as putting Ajax or Comet cleanser around the wheels of your RV and on the sewer and water hoses and electrical cable. I did this but the ants came anyway. Other campers report the same thing. And when the ants come, they come in the hundreds, if not thousands.

I am still battling the sugar ant problem in my motor home. If it persists I will leave the park and get my RV professionally fumigated.

Other than that, the park is not bad. The rest rooms and showers are dated but clean. The staff is friendly. The park is spotlessly clean. Every day there is a swarm of maintenance activity. And there is a sense of community.

But then there are the ants. I am watching a steady stream of them make their way to one of the bait traps in my motor home as I am writing this.

If you come, come prepared, for ants. And get a site with a concrete pad so you can track where the ants are coming from.

Other than that life here is great.

Thank you for your review, and thank you for your comments. Ants are indeed one of our major sources of frustration as well. Try as we might, there is a limit to what types of pesticides we are comfortable with using so as not to be a danger to our guests or their pets. We will continue to do all we can to control the problem of ants in the campground. I certainly recommend Grants Ants for ant control. It has proven most effective in our outbuildings and structures as well as my own RV. Thank you again for your stay and visit and for your review.
