“Great desert stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013

What a great place to stop when travelling I-10. This exit has mainly a gas station and this cafe, which is a perfect diner to grab a bite and a break. Not only is the food good and the employees friendly, but it also has a nice little gift shop with lots of American Indian artifacts, as well as everyday items to stock up on and a post office. One of the things I noticed is how clean the dining area was, which we all can appreciate. The food and the service were both good.

If you haven't stopped here and are planning a trip through this area, it would be a good idea to plan to stop here. Just a nice, friendly place to eat and learn about the great history of the founders, the cafe and the area.

“Outstanding 'Pit Stop' for breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

When my wife and I travel between Anaheim and Phoenix, we ALWAYS plan on leaving Anaheim arriving at the Cafe around mid morning. Our brunch has always been outstanding with large portions cooked with care so our food arrives less than 12 minutes after ordering. The "Trucker's Special" breakfast is loaded with meat and sausage gravy! If you are watching your waistline, don't get the Truckers Special! Haha
The staff is very accommodating, but lacks the 'polish' of a restaurant chain.
Around noon hot, you will start to see the cafe starting to get busy. That's an understatment! The recently renovated gift shop has something for everyone with abundant snacks, homemade Kelly's and jams, ... curios, hats, sarapes at excellent prices! Count on always having a slight to significant breeze blowing through the cement table on the patio which can cool your food down quickly, ... but for a delightful 'Pit Stop' on I-10 to refresh, strongly consider the Chiriaco Summit Cafe! Then if you have time and want to walk off some of your breakfast, the Patton Desert Training Museum is about 200 yards down the road... You can't miss it!

“Dog-friendly patio, excellent desserts”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

We travel across the desert several times a year. If our dog is with us, Chiriaco Summit is a better stopping place than most fast food restaurants in Blythe or Indio. There is a nice, shady patio outside the cafe where our dog can spend time with us while we enjoy cold drinks or desserts from the cafe.

The cafe's pies and muffins are outstanding, and they also serve ice cream. Date shakes are on the menu as well. The sandwiches and fries are nothing special, comparable to Denny's or any other coffee shop chain. Service here has been friendly every time we've visited. There is a little gift shop in the cafe, and a picturesque post office outside.

“Enjoyed the Hot and Spicy salad with grilled Chicken”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013 via mobile

The salad was more flavorful than I expected! There was spicy dried mango on the salad which surprised me pleasantly. Give it a try.

The store attached to the cafe had quite a bit of local food items so I bought the Mayhaw Jelly to try when we get home as I'd never heard of that.

Please visit the Classic Car area as Herb made us feel so at home while we waited for our electric car to charge. Thanks Herb!!
