“A tribute to a great man and an honor to all veterans”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

A stone's throw from Palm Springs, the Patton Museum is a must. Both a tribute to a military genius and a "well done" to all veterans. The desert training center is memorialized with hundreds of artifacts, nicely displayed and annotated. Focus is on WWII but clearly honoring all veterans; credit to the Chiriaco family (Chiriaco Summit) and hundreds of patriotic donors. There is a Viet Nam wall and soon to be (11/11/2013) a Korean wall, honoring the respective veterans. Tanks and other displays fill the area with artifacts your kids have never seen... great lesson for them. Show the children a "C" ration can opener and see if they know what is it...in fact, buy one for them (a few coins) and they will be the first on the block to have one! You will not be disappointed with a visit.

“WWII History & Tribute to Gen. George Patton”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Patton personally selected about 18,000 square miles in the southern CA desert as a desert training center. This museum is located just off the freeway in part of this training area, and although small, has some wonderful items and displays pertaining not only to General Patton himself, but to his WWII career, his personal items, the desert training site specifically, and some tributes to veterans in general. There is an outdoor area with actual tanks and other machinery from the WWII era. For anyone who served with Patton, or whose relatives may have served with him, I strongly encourage you to watch the approximately 15 minute video about him. Lots of info is presented, and even those who don't know much about Patton will come away with new knowledge and respect for this military hero.
Very family friendly. The two people who worked there the day we were there were friendly and helpful.
This is a "meander at your own pace" museum - no formal guides or tours. I like that, for one can spend as much or little time as desired.
There is a modest fee to get in, and senior discounts are available.
There is no food available at the museum, but on the other side of the parking lot are a couple of fast food restaurants, a BBQ place and large gas station with anything needed - all within walking distance.

“Patton and the California high desert”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Desert training, camels, tanks, and WWII history are the foundation of this museum memorializing Patton. Lots of old military gear to look over and nice info on the local desert including some stuffed wildlife. The Medal of Honor room, the Holocaust room, and the Patton Award wall all include wonderful information. This was a return visit and the large statue of Patton out front and the Memorial West Coast Vietnam Wall have dressed up the entrance since the last visit.

“Cute little day trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

We decided to visit because we had driven by it a couple of years ago and didn't get a chance to stop to check it out, and this time we were near by and had time to check it out. It ended up being really cute and interesting and the guy watching it was really sweet and helpful in givning a mans opinion on a gift. Not a place you really need to re-visit but its worth one trip out there to see it, was well worth the $5 to get in

“New Vietnam War Memorial Wall”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

This interesting little museum seems to be operated on a shoestring budget, but it still manages to stay open in a very remote area of southern California. They've recently built a Vietnam War Memorial Wall, which is a very nice addition. Worth the $5 admission fee.
