“Not really "authentic", but still tasty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

I like Lucille's BBQ and the southern feel in their restaurants, even though it's not what I would consider truly authentic BBQ. The smokiness of a real pit may be missing, but the flavors are still very nice

And although "Granny Lucille" and her famous recipes are fictitious, it's far better than your typical regional chain restaurant, and will surprise you with the taste of their food. The staff is always friendly and efficient, and the music and ambiance are great

My favorites are the ribs and tri-tip, their collard greens are out of this world, and you really can't go wrong with cheese grits. (They have stopped serving their own branded vinegar pepper sauce to go on the greens, and have not replaced it with another brand though.)

“Good barbecue, fun atmosphere.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

Huge menu, reasonable prices and good staff. We had to wait in the bar for a half hour for our table, but it was Saturday night.
We both had good meals and we will go back.

“Oh my it was GOOD!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

We were staying in a nearby RV park and just happened to see this place, so we ordered take-away. The clerk at the front was very busy but friendly and helpful. We did have quite a long wait for our food, and she apologized several times and then tossed in some biscuits at no charge :-)

When we order BBQ to go, we always order meats by the pound plus side dishes instead of meals. I can't remember exactly what we ordered - I know we had beef brisket, chicken, pulled pork and probably ribs. For sides, we tried the macaroni & cheese, honey roasted peanut slaw, BBQ beans, sweet mashed potatoes and corn on the cob.

If it sounds like a lot of food - it was! Everything was just delicious and the biscuits were just melt-in-your-mouth scrumptious! We enjoyed leftovers for lunch more than once :-)

All this food was only a little over $36, which we felt was a very fair price.

Whilst we were waiting, we started looking at the dessert menu . . . and decided that we really ought to add a couple of desserts. The bread pudding was outstandingly good and the chocolate cake very rich and moist.

In short, everything we had was delicious!

It wasn't until I got home and looked at their website that I realized they were a chain. Sadly for us, they are only in southern California and Las Vegas. But the next time we're in a town with a Lucille's, we will make a point to eat there!

“Didn't not stand up to the recommendations.-”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Went for a birthday dinner with friends on a Monday. Ambitious for great BBQ, we were very dissatisfied with the food. Service was average, ambiance good. The rib tips, beef briscuit looked like warmed over yesterdays leftovers, the taste confirmed the appearance, dry, grainy and tough. The cheesy grits were dry. Jambalaya too spicy. The best items were the biscuits with apple butter and smoked half chicken. Alot of food but pricey. Dinner and bar for four $196. Incl., tip.
We expected much better for our first visit. Won't return to Lucille's at Chino Hills, CA.

“Real Southern Cooking, But at a Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

The food is very good! This is southern BBQ with all the authentic fixings. It is expensive though in my opinion. This is a very popular place so we had a wait time of about 40 minutes ( they do not take reservations). In our group we had baby back ribs, BBQ tri- tip, and I tried the gumbo ( a little caution here as it is heavy on the spices, rosemary, thyme, and bay leaf. I still liked it.) All the dishes were done perfectly. There was live Dixieland music in the bar which was a plus. Parking was easy.
