“It was awsome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

We had a great time at Big Springs Resort. Our cabin was clean, roomy and nice. The view of the lake from our deck was awsome. We really don't have any complants. Yes there was alittle dirt and alittle pine needles around but this a cabin in the mountains. The owner, lou and the camphost, Steve were wonderful people with a lot of knowledge of the surrounding area. We want to thank them and are looking forward to coming back next year.

Room Tip: We looked in some of the cabins and some of them were small but looked confretable still. Look at th...

Recently, we stayed in a "studio apartment" - it has to be the tiniest mobile home they make. The TV was mounted next to the ceiling in a corner and was about the size of a laptop computer screen. The bathroom had linoleum from the '50's and had been glued down on the edges several times with different types of glue. The shower was the smallest I've ever used and only had enough hot water for one person - and we waited 20 minutes between showers. No soap, and towels that were really rough and thin. The trailer was on a slope and the head of the bed was downhill so we had to turn the matress around so we wouldn't get sick overnight. The bed didn't even have a bedspread on it. The people here are really nice, though and it looks like a good campground. I didn't see the other "cabins" - maybe they're better, but definitely stay away from that studio apartment!

Room Tip: Stay away from that studio apartment. If you can, view a room before you rent - we paid way too much...

Stayed here with my wife and a friend in separate cabins for a friend's wedding. It's an RV park with additional small cabins. We stayed in the smallest of the cabins because they were the only ones available. Definitely worth the price we paid. Decently clean and quaint, but you obviously get what you pay for in terms of amenities. We actually were able to use our friends' houses around the lake for lake access so I can't speak about that. Owner was very nice and offered a lot of advice about the area. He even offered up a bag of charcoal for our grill so that we wouldn't have to run back out to get some for ourselves. The floor was extremely dirty, but some of that might have been us tracking in dirt from the outside on our shoes because our friend's cabin was not as bad. Also, in the small cabins only enough hot water for 10min, so I showered in the community outhouse while my wife used the private shower in our cabin. Really good access to the peninsula and Chester.

Would recommend for a really cheap stay in the area if you aren't looking for high-class amenities and are used to "roughing it".
