We spent two nights at the Pierpointe Inn in mid-August. We had an upstairs room directly overlooking the beach and pier. The room was very large, clean and very nicely furnished. It included a balcony (from where we could see south to Morro Rock), a fireplace, a large TV with cable, and a jacuzzi bathtub. We paid $275 a night, which is probably one of the best deals you can get along the California lower coast for ocean front property these days. Note, the place is more a small inn, and not really a bed and breakfast. You do not get the fancy, big breakfasts offered in most bed and breakfast places, nor their personalized touches. On the other hand, you feel more like you are in a hotel rather than invading someone's personal home.

The beach in front of the hotel is wonderful, though the weather was a bit cool if you like to lay out in the sun or go in the water without a wet suit (as is common in the central coast). There were some nice tide pools a short walk to the north. Cayucos is a small town with little to see or do there, other than the beach. However, there is lots to do in the area. Besides Hearst Castle, there are a number of fine wineries within an hour's drive. We had great dinners in Cayucos at Hoppe’s Garden & Bistro (a short walk down the street) one night, and Schooner’s Wharf (next door) the next, and recommend both.

“Nice room, nice view but poor breakfast”

Pierpointe Inn

We stayed in the most expensive room (204) with our 2 children. Price online was $290 - but when I phoned I got quoted $275.

This is a "B&B" - but very impersonal compared to all other B&Bs I've ever stayed at. It's really just a very small hotel with limited hotel facilities.

Having said that, the room itself was excellent - bigger than the $600 room we stayed in at the Mandarin Oriental the 3 preceding nights in San Francisco. The 2 beds were very large and very comfortable - again better than the MO. Large bathroom with 2 sinks and a spa which one of my sons tried.

Other points:
Free parking underneath.
Balcony overlooking Pier - although there is a road with a small parking lot between the Inn and the beach.
Room has fridge and microwave.
Large elevator to carry your own bags upstairs.

We were disappointed with the breakfast which was below average and for the price I would have expected considerably better. I don't buy the "it's free" argument.

Make sure you eat at Hoppes restaurant which is just across the street. It's everybit as good as everyone else says - it exceeded our expectations and was better than the majority of (good+expensive) restaurants we ate at in SF. Do not miss this one. It's not cheap but it is excellent.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon here from July 30-August 2. We loved our stay and everything about the inn. We stayed in room 204 which was a corner room with a near perfect view of the ocean. Our bed was extra comfy and well needed after all the exhuasting last couple months of planning our wedding came to frutrition. The staff was excellent and did a great job taking care of us on our stay. Unfortunately we were only able to take advantage of our dessert one of the nights we stayed, because we were usually out doing things.

The only issue we had was with the town itself. Being that Cayucos is such a small town they have a small selection of places to eat. Also because they are a beautiful beachside community the resturants that are located in the town feel they should seasonally raise their prices and take advantage of those spending time in the city. Not to mention most of the resturants were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, which made dining in the town impossibly (not to mention the lack of any non meat meals for my wife). So we spent more of our time in Morro Bay getting real food that wasn't seasonally artificially price increased.

We had a great honeymoon and we both highly recommend the Pierpointe Inn, just be prepared to go to Cambria or Morro Bay for dinner. :)

“Perfect Beach Vacation”

Pierpointe Inn

This hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway. The room was exceptional--comfortable bed with really high quality linens, great whirlpool tub, nice robes, tv with a dvd player and you can rent dvds from the front desk. Also had a fireplace and a balcony. It was decorated beautifully. We actually stayed in 2 different rooms and both were perfect. Definitely worth the money. If you can afford it, it's definitely worth the splurge to get the ocean view. The town of Cayucos was quiet, with beautiful beaches and planty to do in the surrounding areas, so you can either have a relaxing time in your hotel room or go and be active. We will definitely be going back. Couldn't have asked for a better room or hotel location.

My wife and I have stayed at the Pierpointe Inn severl times as it is only a 30 minute drive from our house. Each time we stayed in an oceanfront room with our own private deck, the beach just out our door and awesome whitewater ocean views. The rooms are large and very nicely decorated, each with a frieplace and whirlpool tub, some have vaulted ceilings. You are right in downtwon Cayucos, one of the last small and quaint oceanfront towns. We ate dinner at Cafe De La Villa, two doors down, excellent Italian food! Walked on the beach, had the kids come over and go surfing, soaked in the oceanview hot tub on the upper deck. Life doesn't get much better. The weekday local room rates are awesome we got our oceanfront room in November for $99.00 a nite, I have stayed in rooms for $400.00 a nite that weren't as nice. Special tip, at low tide you can walk from Cayucos to Morro Bay all the way on the beach (6.5 miles). Enjoy!
