“Charming and restful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2008

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Seaside Motel. Every room is decorated differently so you do not feel like you are staying at a motel, but visiting friends. It's just a short walk to the beach, but sometimes it's just nice to sit and enjoy the lovely garden. Rick and Rebecca make everyone feel at home and we are looking forward to our next visit. The Seaside Motel is the jewel of the central coast.

A very nice place to stay. The water pressure was good in the shower. The place was clean and quaint. Check in/out was easy.

The Seaside Motel is our favorite inn in the world. It starts out with the quaintest rooms you've ever seen. Every room has a different motif. We stayed this time in the Country Charm Suite, which is one of the kitchenette rooms, with a stove, microwave and fridge. It is decked out to look like a country cottage. About half of the rooms have kitchens. All are gorgeous. Next is the town of Cayucos itself, which is laid back and funky, but also has a good choice of restaurants and shopping. It is within easy driving distance of the city of San Luis Obispo and the town of Cambria. Both offer great opportunities for eating, shopping and sight-seeing. Next, it is a five minute walk to the public beach and the motel has a wonderful patio with and ocean view. Finally, the owners (Rick & Rebecca Roquet) are the greatest people in the world and are dedicated to their guests' experience. They also have cable tv in the living room and the bedroom and free wireless internet access for their guests. See their website for more details. They won't let me put the url in here, but it's easy to find from google. My only problem with writing this review is that I really don't want the secret to get out!!

Great base location for exploring the central coast....from Pismo to San Simeon and beyond....plus a great base location for visiting the Paso Robles and Los Olivos wine country....did I say this was a great central location :) Cutest little motel, close to the beach and very clean. I suspect that I will make the Seaside Motel an annual destination......hundreds of things to see and do are within a short drive. Owners/manager, Rebecca & Rick are very nice people too. Beautiful gardens with BBQ grills for your use.

  • Liked — Location & cleanliness
  • Disliked — the sound of seals barking (which I actually enjoyed)

The Seaside Motel is a small, charming property. Each room is individually decorated with its own theme. I have stayed there on three occasions and have had a completely satisfying stay each time. Rebecca and Rick are very friendly and want to make sure you have a great stay. I would recommend the Seaside Motel to anyone wishing to have a relaxing stay in comfortable surroundings.

What a great place to stay at. It was so relaxing and we will definetly come back. Rebecca and Rick Roquet (the owners) are the best. They take care of everything. The rooms are spotless and the themes are so unique. We have never stayed in Cayucos before. Now we know where to stay. I can see why this place is rated #1.

We go to the central coast about four times a year, and we have been staying at the Seaside Motel now for about 15 years or so. It is a small one story place with about 11 units, some with kitchenettes. Each room is creatively decorated with a different theme: Roses, Tea Time, Sunflowers, Under the Sea, Safari, etc. That is the part I like the most. It makes me feel like I am at a special place.

There also is a wonderful little garden in the back with a BBQ and a picnic table for guests to use. You can glimpse a piece of the ocean from some of the rooms, but it is set one house back from the ocean edge proper. To get to the ocean, it is a short half-block walk to an access point. You can also walk to restaurants and antique shops. The video store rents to Seaside customers with a show of the room key. Rooms have TV/VCR/DVD players and internet access.

We have always had a peaceful stay there. Rebecca and Rick Roquet take meticulous care of the place, are very friendly, and always available. The people who stay at the Seaside seem to be pleasant and friendly too, and we have never had a bad experience.
