“Charming, unique, quiet & relaxing - fantastic place to stay within short walking distance to the beach, etc.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2011

We were so pleased with our 3day/2night stay @ the Seaside Motel for our 36th wedding anniversary. This is an older motel but VERY well maintained, clean, quiet & comfortable. All plumbing & appliances were in good condition & working order. Each unit has it's own theme & personal toches. Our unit, #9 was perfect in every way, like a small 4 room apartment which was very clean, charming & filled with lots of personal touches throughout. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom stocked with "eco-friendly" toiletries. There's a cozy livingroom area with flatscreen TV, & comfortable loveseat to curl up on with a good book. The full kitchen was stocked with every imaginable dish, pan, gaget & kitchen utensils, etc. available to make a full gourmet meal. Right outside our unit was a patio with comfy chairs, picnic table & barbecue grills plus all the grilling supplies a person would need. The grounds & gardens are well manicured with lots of character, like the many treehouses, etc. The motel is a block from the beach & within a few blocks of the pier, great eateries, shops & antique businesses along the main street. Cayucos is a quiet, relaxing, friendly & laid-back beachfront town away from the hustle & bustle of the city, but within a short drive to Hearst Castle, many wineries, Morro Bay, Pismo, Cambria, Moonstone Beach & other wonderful coastal towns & beaches. Rebecca and Rick have created a wonderful, warm & welcoming place for a get-a-way. They were always available to answer questions about the area & provided many helpful tips to make our visit to the coast a memorable one. This would be a great place for a family get-to-gether, romantic honeymoon or anniversary, birthday celebration, friends weekend, 'girls only' weekend or any other event. We look forward to making this our annual anniversay ger-a-way spot.

Room Tip: I would look at the pictures of each unit on line to pick what works best for your individual needs.

This small family owned and operated hotel in the tiny hamlet of Cayucos on the Central Caost of CA is lovely, homey, safe, and almost magical. Competitive prices too! There is a quaint, perfectly groomed garden area that my children refer to as the "Fairy Garden". It is just a short, safe, traffic free walk to the public beach. We have been going to the Seaside Motel since our children were little and find ourselves returning again and again. One room has a full kitchen and is perfect for the family that prefers to cook it's own meals. I recommend this to anyone looking for a perfect place to spend their vacation on the Central Coast.

Sick of snotty owner's that act like their doing your a favor or you're not sure if you've crossed an international border? This place is down home, live and let live. Unpretentious yet accomodating with well kept rooms and grounds. Walking distance to anywhere you need to go, fall asleep listening to waves crashing on the beach. We finally found a good place to stay while in Cayucos and will definitely be back.

We stayed at the Seaside Motel for 5 days in July fpr a family vacation. The room was super clean as was the entire property. Excellent value and service from this little motel. The garden area is beatiful and they have BBQ's if you wish to grill something up for dinner. Our room also had a small kitchenette.

Stayed here for two nights and enjoyed every second! I wanted to stay in the Purple Haze room but the only one left was Fish Fantasy.

This is a retro-roadside motel as far as the footprint of the room goes, but the owners have decorated each room in a specific theme. The rooms are like you would expect for the time period that it was built in - a square room with a door and front window, a small open closet area and a decent size bathroom. The shower was the best! Lots of hot water and good pressure.

The motel is within walking distance of the pier and the beach and lots of good restaurants and shops. Parking is convenient and there is a coffeemaker and free wifi in the room. Morro Bay and Hearst Castle are just a short drive away if you want to explore the area.

At night I could hear the ocean but I also heard street traffic. But, it's a pretty small town so the traffic was pretty light.

Cayucos is a small town, I mean small...you can walk from end to end in 15 minutes, 45 if you walk out on the pier and stop to watch the pelicans dive for fish. Cayucos is quaint with loads of 'cute' thrown in for good measure. That being said, contextual the Seaside Motel is fine motel, I'd go as far to say it sets the standard for cute. If you love, really LOVE bric-a-brac, tschotske, knick knack, silk flowers, wreaths, stenciled designs, florals, hand painted signs, etc... you'll love the Seaside Motel. The motel is clean, great water pressure, comfortable bed, an actually light to read by(!) and it's pretty much in the middle of town, you can park your car for your entire stay in Cayucos. There is a very nice, albeit completely decorated backyard/patio area to sit or sun with an ocean peek - no white water views on this property.

The Seaside Motel offers no breakfast or cocktail hour, offers only the basic amenities; not even individual shampoo and conditioner just a body/hair wash dispenser in the shower stall. There was no microwave or refrigerator in our room and no air conditioning which means you really need to keep / sleep with your large street level window open - there is table fan in the room, we needed to have the window open and fan on otherwise the room was just too hot.

The overwhelming decor, lack of a microwave and refrigerator, along with the very few, very basic amenities for the price of the room makes this a no for me. I read The Seaside Motel was the #1 Cayucos hotel on tripadvisor and booked it without really looking at the pictures..my bad.
