“Very Enjoyable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2010

We have been here twice with our 2 year old. We are timeshare owners and have decided to use our Welk Resort points for long weekends. But you can book in here without being timeshare owners as well. We are totaly sold on this location. It is clean, friendly and the staff is wonderful. The resort is small but that is what i like about it; there are not a lot of people! I just love having the option of going downtown Palm Springs for a summer nights walk or for dinner or cooking in our room and having a late night dip in the hot tub. Additionally, the resort is Kid friendly with a great activity room and a Soak City near-by. The Golf Club is wonderful as well - nicely tended too and fun for all ages. TIP: Arrive ahead of schedule to get the better room - pool view or golf course view, avoid the parking lot view by arriving early. They also have a smoking wing. Some of the rooms are being up-graded and are very nice! The beds are great!

What we liked: smooth check-in, clean room, compact place and proximity to Palm Springs and a bit longer to drive to Palm Desert. Definitely need a car. Pool area was cozy and friendly.
No-likes: a lot of rooms view the parking lot. We did get moved but to room 402 with a pool view. However, it backed right up to an extremely noisy utility closet and water heater--which we did not know was really bad until coming home after dinner late the first night. Unrelentingly noisey and greatly interfers with sleep. We complained 3 times. The engineer came out but did nothing. The engineers and front desk are well aware that this room is horrible for noise. We had to buy ear plugs to sleep the 7 nights. That definitely was a huge problem and the staff were indifferent. Why dont they just sound insulate the loud closet?????
Given the relative apathy (oh well) of the 3 staff whom we compained to, I would not recommend the place, in spite of what we did like there.

We started going here on an RCI trade and then 2 years ago we bought a week here because we are so happy at the resort. The location is great - close to Palm Springs and Palm Desert, shopping, IMAX theatre, etc.

But what we really love is the activity program. It runs every day all day long, crafts, classes, movies, bingo, you name it. We have three small kids and this really helps keep them occupied and the prices are nominal. My kids can play games and do crafts for under $10.

The kitchen is clean and roomy so I am able to cook alot of meals. The pool area is nice and lots of fun.

It is not the newest or fanciest resort. But it feels very welcoming and kid-friendly. And value wise it can't be beat. We are going back again this June and I'm looking forward to it.

I got this hotel a week and a half before we were supposed to leave through Hotwire and wasn't sure what to expect.

The neighborhood we had to drive through was a little sketchy in places but the grounds of the condos was very nice and felt safe. This is a Lawrence Welk time share property so there was some of the typical media to get people to buy a timeshare but we simply told the woman who checked us in that we weren't interested and we never heard another word about it. We didn't attend any of the events and we actually didn't even sit by the pool.

We got a 1 bedroom king size villa and it was very roomy and comfortable. The bed was nice and the sheets were soft. The bathroom was very large. Our balcony faced the parking lot, which at first we didn't like, but due to the high number of seniors, there wasn't a lot of action in the lot after 7pm. We actually enjoyed people watching from our balcony and it provided a little entertainment for us. The villa was clean and tidy. No issues at all. In general the halls were quiet (when we first got here the cleaning crew was quite loud in the room across from us/in the hall. I think they had their walk-talkies on full volume. They were there for about 1.5 hrs and once they were gone, it was peaceful).

The location isn't too far to drive to Palm Springs proper or to the trendy Palm Desert/Rancho Mirage areas. There is pretty much nothing but the golf course in easy walking distance, but that was ok for us.

We only stayed for 2 nights and it seemed the majority of people here were visiting for 1-2 weeks. I could easily stay here longer or travel here with our children. It was very comfortable.

This vacation was a quick get away to use my points prior to expiration. We had stayed here once before and enjoyed our time and because of it's proximity to Scottsdale we booked a week.

This is not a Gold Crown resort, but it is adequate. Renovation to upgrade counters, linens, furniture, and general decor could make this a Gold Crown property because the space is very roomy. The bed was comfortable, the lighting through out the unit was bright. Don't expect a view unless you like looking at the parking lot. The kitchen was very well stocked. Appliances could definitely be upgraded.

I believed it to be very clean until one evening as I was seated at the dining room table working on my scrapbook, I noticed a one inch in length cockroach trying to climb the wall. The roach was soon dispatched to cockroach heaven, but I'm still a little creeped out about it. When I mentioned it at the front desk, no one seemed too concerned saying, "well you know how it is in the desert at this time of year" Yes, I do know how it is in the desert this time year and our home is sprayed regularly and the only bugs I see are dead bugs. The front desk person did say the resort sprays regularly.

The adult pool is small and only 41/2 feet in depth. We used the pool at off times as on several occasions there were not enough chairs or lounges to accomodate more people. The kids pool is bigger and deeper but I'm not big on swimming with kids in swim diapers.

The resort has lots of activities for kids and from what I observed, I think bringing our grandchildren here would be a lot of fun. There were also some activities for adults and my husband did enjoy his casino evening.

The outlets in Cabazon are about 25 miles farther west on I 10 and if you like to shop high end with great bargins, then definately make the trip. Be aware Liz Claiborne will only give a merchandise credit after 30 days rather than a refund if you decide to return something.

Prior to the cockroach, I would definitely come back again. Post cockroach, I'm not sure if I will come again and I'm not sure if I would recommend it to anyone else.

I know that every room can't be perfect, but I just don't understand why so many hotels/resorts use building plans that relegate guests to parking lot balconies and patios. We had a great 1-bedroom suite, wonderfully stocked kitchen, and the place was sparkling clean. Comfy beds, 2 TVs, DVD, the works ... but not a nice view at all, unless you like watching the very busy security guards constantly patrolling back and forth.

Smallish pool, but surprisingly cold (could be good or bad, depending on what you like). Lots of resort activities, make sure you ask about them when you check in. SUPER front desk/concierge staff, efficient and friendly!

It would be nearly perfect if they had a pet-friendly designation. Great location just blocks from "downtown" Cathedral City. Don't miss the fountain in front of City Hall ... you can play in it!!

We got the one bedroom king suite/villa and was surprised at how nice and roomy the place was. There is a kitchen complete with full size refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher and all the utensils and serving ware you could need.

The living room is a nice size with a small dining table and four chairs. The bedroom is completely separate and can be shut off when my husand wakes up early allowing me to sleep in. There is a walk in closet in the bedroom and another closet in the hall. The beds are very comfy. The balcony has patio furniture.

There is an acitivity center for the children and two small pools, one just for adults.

It is an older property with popcorn ceilings, but the rooms have been rennovated. They are not fancy but they are very nice. We were very pleased with our stay and will definitely return.
