“Awesome and fresh sushi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

Of course while visiting California you want to have lots of fresh foods and seafood. We checked out Sushi Heaven based on the walking map provided by our hotel. It is one of two Japanese restaurants in Carmel that we found. We stopped out front to look at the menu and almost didn't go in when another couple said they weren't sure about it either. The other couple left and we went in to give it a chance. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered 4 rolls and saki. They brought out miso and a small cucumber starter salad without asking for it. Their sushi quality was above par. Order the Tom & Jerry!!!! It was the best.

“Overrated”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

Read other reviews and thought it would be worth it....but don't waste your time...I live in Auburn Ca..
Far from sea and the sushi there is better than Sushi Heaven..
In Carmel(by the sea!) the service was ok but the rolls were tiny..and expensive...if you live in Carmel and you want good sushi... stop in Auburn or Roseville on your way to Reno!

“I liked it, even though...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

It was not the best sushi restaurant I've been in my life, but it is good and we felt relaxed and welcomed. A good place to go.

My husband and I love sushi. We ate here 2 days in a row. Some of the best sushi we have ever eaten.

“Sushi Heaven away from Island Home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

Sushi, sashimi and poke are, gratefully, staples of my diet, living on an island surrounded by the bounty of the sea. i was quite charmed by my hometown companion's lunch mood-for-sushi selection on Dolores, in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The humble and attentive staff, the local-favorite feel of the patron photo topped booths and outdoor patio decor, but mostly in the flavors. The spicy mussels arrived hot and delicious, with layers of unique spice, uni ponzu and a sesame drizzle. The poke grade ahi may have been farmed, but the cucumber, daikon salad was dressed with a rich kick; the entire plate, again, layered in flavors. The prices allowed for ample choices, as miso soup and sesame carrot daikon salad arrived right after the order was taken. We shared two rolls and rolled right out into the car, for a beach cruise and heaven sent salt air on the way home.
