Visiting my college daughter at CSUMB, I spent a couple of nights here. A Bavarian style, family run Inn with a 40 year history, anti-glitz, but that is part of its charm. Location, location, location: It is convenient to all village shops and restaurants. Using a third party online service I had booked a one night stay. Deciding to extend my stay an additional night I called the hotel directly. My assigned room was not available the second night, but they moved me to a larger room for my stay and honored a reduced internet rate for the 2 nights. Not obligated to do so, and I appreciated their courtesy. There is family warmth to the place that I found endearing the moment I registered. When my daughter arrived they registered HER car so she could park on premises, and greeted her like a long lost relative - you don't find this type of hospitality often these days :) Room 42 was a King Ocean View Suite on the fourth floor. A large viewing deck with seating fronted my room, looking over the trees and out to the ocean, lovely. This particular room had a kitchen with microwave, coffee pot, 2 burner range, fridge, kitchen seating, and cupboards stocked appropriately to USE the kitchen. There was a fireplace in the large main room along with 2 comfy chairs to enjoy the view. Double shuttered doors lead to a large dressing area and bath. Each room is different, and while some would define appointments as 'dated' I would define decor as 'shabby chic' meant in the nicest possible way. The suite was done in greens with antique touches - what one would expect in a property like this. I found the bed more than comfortable, the room immaculate. My only complaint: Rather than the low light sconces lighting walkways around other rooms, the recessed outdoor light above my room and the one adjacent was uncommonly bright - and the small wood shutters could not hold up to the job of darkening the room - something to keep in mind if your are a 'black-out sleeper' like me. Other than that I throughly enjoyed my stay at Hofsa House, and will choose to call it 'home' on future visits.
