“Great location, needs a facelift”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2012 via mobile

The location can't be beat, but don't expect much else. It is so dated and in need of a facelift - more so than anywhere I've ever stayed. However, even so, we had a great weekend in Carmel. We could've stayed in a paper bag and still had a great time!

Look, like most in Carmel this place won't make you swoon. It is a little tatty, and could use some capital funds to upgrade the furnishings.

However, the staff is very accomodating. We had a "Problem", which was dealt with professionally and to our satisfaction. The location is very good for exploring the village. Delivered continental breakfast is a nice touch. And round the clock cookies is a treat.

We stayed at the Inn for our Honeymoon 30yrs ago, and we keep coming back. Love the location, can walk to town and to the great resturants like the Carmel Bistro Giovanni , two blocks away. Visit in the winter or spring and get half off the room!

Room Tip: pick the Deluxe rooms near the pool, quiet.

the folks at the front desk were very helpful. we stayed in the one bedroom suite with our 9 and 11 year old sleeping on the sofa bed in the main room. the inn was overall nice, bathroom and bedroom were nice and clean but the the furniture is kind of old. i got an extra sheet and kept the sofa covered so that we could sit on it (comfortably and not worry about the 'eww' factor). same thing with the dining room chairs, not very inviting. but the bed was comfy and the comforter didn't look old and ragged. overall a nice little inn convenient to restaurants and main street and very peaceful.

We have stayed here a couple of times over the years and this place is not fancy, but it is clean and certainly convenient to town and within walking distance to just about everything. We always try to stay in the end unit nearest the office and parts of the hotel has a 2nd story. Some of the units have a fireplace, but frankly I wouldn't pay extra because you have a fireplace in your room that you will likely never use. In the morning a basket was delivered to our door with fruit and muffins. This hotel is part of the small chain managed/owned by Inns by the Sea and we have stayed at a few others in different locations and they have all been very comfortable, but are higher priced. We always look forward to our stay and I think you will too.

Just spent a night here using a Groupon. We were quite satisfied with our stay. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the fireplace a nice touch. Just a couple of blocks from the heart of Carmel made for a nice relaxing time. The staff are very nice and accomodating. If you want a nice, budget place to stay in Carmel, you should consider the Dolphin Inn.
