My wife and I started our vacation trip to Oregon with a stop in Carmel. We have stayed here one other time and love the proximity to the cozy parts of Carmel. Several great restaurants are within walking distance (I mean walking distance with a walker so thankfully they were very close by) There was also a gas station at the corner which was very convenient. We were two blocks off Ocean Avenue which my wife loves as she loves all the litle shops and galleries. Down at the end of Ocean Ave. is the beach with a fantastic beach walk going south from there. We went in September 2012 so it wasn't crowded at all. Very easy to find parking along the scenic one way road that goes south along the beach. Worth the time. We are huge Thomas Kinkade fans and several subjects of his paintings can be found in Carmel. Paintings like Ocean Ave. Deloris Street, Tuck Box, Studio in the Garden, and our favorite right off the beach road is Morning Glory Cottage. Be aware that the breakfast room at the hotel is very small. We found it easier to grab a tray and bring food back to our room. Parking is a little tight, only one handicapped space. We would definitely stay here again. Other must see activities while you're here: 17 mile drive and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Room Tip: If handicapped ask for the handicapped room on the first floor. The pool area was down some stairs b...
