“Best Hotel to experience Carmel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

Hotel is in walking distance to the center of Carmel; the area is quiet; the staff is very friendly and attentive; it was our 2nd time in Carmel and we will definetly chose this hotel again; only point of criticism: a very small breakfast area (only two tables).

My wife and I started our vacation trip to Oregon with a stop in Carmel. We have stayed here one other time and love the proximity to the cozy parts of Carmel. Several great restaurants are within walking distance (I mean walking distance with a walker so thankfully they were very close by) There was also a gas station at the corner which was very convenient. We were two blocks off Ocean Avenue which my wife loves as she loves all the litle shops and galleries. Down at the end of Ocean Ave. is the beach with a fantastic beach walk going south from there. We went in September 2012 so it wasn't crowded at all. Very easy to find parking along the scenic one way road that goes south along the beach. Worth the time. We are huge Thomas Kinkade fans and several subjects of his paintings can be found in Carmel. Paintings like Ocean Ave. Deloris Street, Tuck Box, Studio in the Garden, and our favorite right off the beach road is Morning Glory Cottage. That is the one building that looks exactly like the painting. If you are a Kinkade fan allow time to find these locations. The Kinkade Gallery back off of Ocean Ave. can help you find the locations. Be aware that the breakfast room at the hotel is very small. We found it easier to grab a tray and bring food back to our room. Parking is a little tight, only one handicapped space. We would definitely stay here again. Other must see activities while you're here: 17 mile drive and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Room Tip: If handicapped ask for the handicapped room on the first floor. The pool area was down some stairs b...

Make sure that before you start to head out for Carmel you print out our directions.
It’s wasn’t the easiest place to navigate.
This hotel is located at San Carlos and 5th, no street addresses basicly anywhere in Carmel.
Also, space seems to be at a premium in Carmel, everything is stacked up on top of one another.
Carmel’s Town House Lodge is right in line with any other Best Western.
The parking was a little difficult, but that is par for Carmel. We suggest that you find your place to park and then just walk where ever you want to go in town.
The room itself was spacious enough.
One complaint my husband had was there’s no air conditioning and our room was a bit stuffy at times.
The one complaint that I had was the lobby/breakfast area needs to be expanded.

No reservation but dropped in on the off chance. Room was great, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Situated in the middle of Carmel so short walk to loads of restaurants. Can't fault it and wish we had stayed longer than the one night. Would recommend to anyone.

We arrived without a reservation but we were looked after. The room was wonderful, quiet location, good bed and room was clean. The breakfast room is a little tight for space but the staff were very friendly. Love Carmel and would return to this hotel

My first reaction when entering the room was "I feel comfortable in this place". The windows opened sufficiently for good air flow. No complaints about at all about the room or its furnishings. The internet worked in the evenings (a rare luxury in many "cheaper" hotels). The breakfast room is completely inadequate with seating space for a total of 6 at 2 tables. Taking a breakfast tray back to the room would have worked better. Regarding parking, we had no problems, but I wouldn't want to be the last to arrive at night as there may not be enough spaces. All up, this is a good value hotel in a great central location.

Very nice hotel. Great location and good value. Friendly staff and very clean room. Good facilities. Breakfast was excellent and the waffle maker very popular. Would recommend this for anyone looking for a good hotel in Carmel.
