“Centrally located comfort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2011

We’ve been going to Carmel-by-the-Sea for many years, and each time we stay at the Carmel Town House. It’s a good value for the price and the hotel management will do their best to quickly accomodate your needs. We’ve stayed in several rooms, but our favorites are 328–331, which are located on Dolores St. It’s a quieter area as compared to the rooms on San Carlos St. There’s also covered parking beneath these rooms.

The rooms have been updated with modern furnishings, new carpeting and flat screen TVs. The rooms also include a safe, refrigerator, iron/ironing board, and coffee maker. The rooms do not have A/C, but there is a fan for circulation. We visit every Thanksgiving, but have stayed here often during the summer months. We found that A/C during our summer visits wasn’t necessary, since it was cool in the evening.

The hotel serves a continental breakfast in their small lobby area. There’s a decent selection of pastry, cereal, juices, etc. It’s tight and sometimes difficult to move around. However, the management recently acquired some office space on the corner and will be converting it into a breakfast room in early 2012.

The hotel is within walking distance to shopping and dining, and is about a 10 minute walk to the beach. The entire town is situated on a hill, so uphill climbs can be strenuous.

We can attest to the quality, cleanliness and value of this hotel. In fact, we’ve already made reservations for next Thanksgiving!

Room Tip: Request Dolores Street rooms. If not available, request a 2nd floor room. There are 2 nice family...

This is a good home base for seeing Carmel and the Central Coast. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We were able to get a room on the back side that was quiet and had essentially a private entrance off the street.

The room was comfortable but was a bit on the dark side. They do not have AC which is usually not a problem, just be aware. They also do not have an elevator and Carmel is quite hilly with lots of up and down! They will help with luggage. Let them help. The room did not have a microwave. The lavatory was beautiful marble. It was however quite deep. It's a bit of a challenge to get close to the mirror to shave or apply make-up. There is some covered parking available for the rooms on the Dolores Street side. That's the side to stay on if possible, there is far less traffic and commotion.

The Breakfast room is the tiny Lobby. And I mean TINY! Go down a bit early and load up on goodies to have in the room. There is NO ROOM to sit comfortably in the Lobby/Breakfast room. The outside stairs on the Dolores street side remained unlit for our entire 3-day stay. Even after we brought it to the attention of the front desk. At night this made the stairs treacherous in the no streetlight Village of Carmel.

Overall this is a good place to stay in Carmel. It is centrally located, reasonably priced for this area, VERY clean, safe and is within easy walking distance of downtown.

Room Tip: Stay as close to Dolores Street as possible. Ask for help with luggage. If you find covered parking...

This hotel is conveniently located three blocks off the main drag, with many restaurants and shops in the neighborhood. Our room was spacious, immaculate, and beautifully appointed in contemporary style, with large flat-screen TV, marble bathroom countertops. Parking was available on the property at no additional charge and there is a modest continental breakfast included in the room price. We will stay here on future trips to Carmel.

The three words that come to mind when I think of the stay my parents, brother and I had at the Best Western Carmel's Town House Lodge are convenient, comfortable, and affordable.
The hotel is right on the boundary of downtown Carmel, which makes for an easy walk to the stores for daytime shopping, and a short stroll to almost all of the great restaurants in town for dinner. It was very convenient to not have to continually move the car when we wanted to do something.
The room was a good size, and had a rich look and feel to it. Dark wood furniture, a good size TV, a very comfortable bed and free wi-fi made for a comfortable stay. The separate bathroom and vanity areas worked out well when trying to get out of the room in a short amount of time at the start of the day.
Finally, based on the Best Western Town House location in Carmel, and its look and amenities, I would have thought that the room rate would have been much more than we paid. The fairly good selection of food for the morning breakfast buffet made the value that much better. All in all I was very happy with our stay at the Best Western Town House in Carmel.

This lodge was a great experience, located centrally and very close to the shops and beach. The staff were great and the internet was a plus. We stayed in a room with a king bed and two king single beds, and this room had two TV's and bathrooms. Very peaceful and quiet, and a petrol station is directly across the street, adding convenience. The continental breakfast was convenient and had a great variety of food. Free parking was appreciated and the car was parked right near the room which was easy when we unpacked into the room. Great experience, highly recommend it, excellent value for money, standard of a 4 or 4.5 star hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms on the east are near the pool, however this isn't a noise problem in winter. Bottom l...

Room 330 does not have wi-fi. I had to walk around the pool through a door where you had to pull a cord to open, and up more stairs to get to the office. I was told I needed an adapter in that room. The first adapter to use for the internet was broken. Had to walk the walk again and was shown an adapter that was way to short to reach to the connection under the table. I am in my mid 60's and it is difficult for me to crawl under a table to hook up cables. That is why we stay at hotels that advertise wi-fi. A nice young man finally came and attached a cable. I do not think any of the rooms have wi-fi because when I was checking out another customer brought his cable back to the office. I was also told I had to wait 10 min. for my receipt. They did not open until 8 am. It was five after 8 according to my cell phone. About 10 min. later I got my receipt. They were polite, but these were problems a well run hotel would not have with their customers. The room was quiet, clean and nice.

Room Tip: If you want wi-fi check with them first.

This accommodation is reminiscant of the older styled hotels with only two stories, but for the price it was absolutely great. We were only there for one night, so all we wanted was a spacious room that was clean, near the central part of the town, had WIFI, and offered a good night's sleep. All these conditions were met. There was coffee and some light breakfast items available in the lobby the next morning. Parking was free. If I am fortunate to find myself in this lovely town again in future, I would stay here again with no hesitation.

Room Tip: We travelled in the off season, so hotel and parking area might be more congested in peak season.
