“Some praise, some not so great notes”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Been here before but was less impressed this time. Caught a great jazz group at night. Ordered apps and wine. The artichoke app is delicious although very messy. The garden burger was excellent and the fries were wonderful! The staff service was distracted and not very good.
Breakfast granola and soy milk, yum! It was be lovely to see more vegan options and I would love organic fruit but oh well. They do a good job anyway on the breakfast for meat eaters and people who aren’t concerned with organics. The morning dining room staff are very nice and attentive.
Good: Comfy, clean, large room.
Bad: Music played all night in outdoor area and since we slept with door open to hear ocean and have fresh air, we were not happy to hear music.
Recycle bin needed in room.
Hallways and stairwells reek- moldy perfumed smell. The rooms do not smell.
Need 2 luggage racks for 2 guests (it was king room, why only one rack?)
No microwave, but fridge there.

This is truly one awesome place. Not just because of the price, but because of the service and attention that is spent on making one feel comfortable and right at home. We had a spacious room, king size bed (very comfy), clean throughout, and with very minimal noise factor. Nice lounge that offers music and dance if you wish, a GREAT brunch, and a very romantic outside patio where one can sit back by the firepit, have a nice glass of vino and enjoy the ambiance.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back of the hotel; away from the music and other guests that socialize around...

This hotel is not in the most fashionable high rent district, but having said that they do a fine job of inn-keeping. We had a deluxe king and it was a fine experience and a good value. We had other activities and so did not use the beautiful pool or eat in the restaurant and so can't comment on that. The staff were very helpful the housekeeping excellent.

The hotel is located well back from the road, not obviously visible, with an obscure entrance driveway. My GPS delivered us to a Chevron gas station, and I had to figure out that I had passed the entrance driveway immediately before reaching the station. Not a problem once understood.

As Sacramento residents, we've been making the Carmel Mission Inn our Carmel home away from home since first finding this property more than 25 years ago. We've NEVER been disappointed or felt inclined to search for other Carmel/Monterey lodgings. Even though the property has changed ownership several times over the 25 years we've been staying there, we've always been very pleased with the property and staff. We've just returned from a 3-day stay. Our room, 346, had recently been fully remodeled and redecorated. Mattresses were new and exceedingly comfortable. The entire property appeared to be in the final stages of a massive remodel and update. Housekeeping was impeccable and we were able to take advantage of a very competitive room rate that included a full breakfast buffet. This property has the advantage of easy access to CA Highway 1, the main north/south access along the CA coast. The historic Carmel Mission is >1 mile from the property, Point Lobos State Reserve about 3 miles, central Carmel shopping is less than 2 miles and Monterey is an easy 6 mile drive outside of rush hour. All in all, this is a 3-4 star property but, for me, the friendly, courteous, informed staff; convenient location; impeccable housekeeping; the investment ownership continues to make to maintain and upgrade the property and the consistency of what I regard as a world class guest experience result in my 5-star rating and continued patronage.

Room Tip: Preferred interior rooms face the pool and courtyard of the property. Exterior facing rooms are on t...

I have family in Carmel and have stayed at this hotel in the past and it wasn't fantastic but it wasn't memorable. This time, my room was horrible! It was so noisy at night I put 3 pillows under the door to block out noise had to plug my ear with earphones and a pillow over my head. It was like a broken refrigerator was outside my door and I could hear people in other rooms all through the vents. In the bathroom I could hear my neighbors word for word. The bed was poor quality and the sheets were itchy! The bathtub faucet leaked which is funny because of the low water pressure. My room included 2 drink vouchers and breakfast but the restaurant was closed when I checked in. The staff was very kind and helpful but the only good thing at breakfast was the fruit. When I checked out and told them of a few of my issues she was very gracious and said they were planning some renovations and would note my concerns. I hope they can do something because it's a great location!

Thank you for your review of our Carmel hotel and in particular for noting our great staff. I’d like to address several of the issues that you mentioned. We are continually upgrading our property and in particular our bedding package. Most of our comments are very positive regarding our euro top mattresses. We use only 300 thread count sheets and pillowcases which are generally considered well above standard for your typical hotel Linen. We sincerely appreciate your business and hope to see you again in the future. Please remember to contact the hotel direct or visit our website for the best rates and service.

Second time staying here but this time we brought our pup. What a great experience and would recommend to anyone! The buffet breakfast is top notch. Enjoyed the outdoor fire pit as well. Just overall EXCELLENT!

We stopped here over night after an amazing drive down from San francisco. The inn is just off highway 1. The staff were really helpful. They organised a cab for us to visit Carmel which is just down the road but we wanted to have dinner there and didn't want to drive back. They also recommended a superb restaurant for seafood, the flying fish. When we couldn't find it we called the receptionist and they gave us directions over the phone. The room was spacious clean and well equipped for a good price. When you buy a drink at the bar during happy hour they have a large spread of appetisers available.
