“A good punt with a happy result”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

My husband just wanted to see Pebble Beach as a car enthusiast so I searched for somewhere nearby that wasn't too expensive. At first sight my heart sank at the ordinary looking building but as soon as we were shown our room we were delighted with the space and modern decor and facilities. As it turned out we were near all the attractions we wanted to see in Carmel and came home for a very satisfactory dining experience at the Inn and after sat outside with some newly made friends to have more wine beside the flaming gas fire. It was a very positive stay and a great alternative to the more expensive hotels closer to Pebble Beach.

My friend and I stayed at the inn for about 5 days. The room and hotel were super clean and well kept. The beds were comfortable and it felt almost like you were home.

The inn is across the street from a plaza which we found really convenient for breakfast, coffee and picking up bottled water for the hotel stay. Most of the shops are small businesses which I loved and it was great to support them. I would absolutely stay there again!

At first I was dismayed by the gas station in front, but just close your eyes! The property is lovely, with nicely decorated rooms, very comfortable beds, nice linens for bed and bath. Staff very helpful and friendly. Nice outdoor lounge area with a fire pit. It backs up to the Barnyard shopping center, so you can easily walk to this pretty little center, covered with flower gardens, for a meal at one of 4 restaurants.

Our room had a balcony with no particular view, but it was just nice to have a place to step out and get some fresh air. This is a great option if you are traveling around the Carmel/Big Sur area, easy drive into town, easy hop to Big Sur. And after visiting downtown, we were glad to be away from the tourist crush in Carmel-By-The-Sea.

My husband and I stayed here for one night during our Pacific Coast Highway tour. When driving up we were a bit hesitant because the outside building looks like a motel and is a bit removed from the downtown and right near the highway. However, once we pulled in to the property it became clear that everything was very well maintained and updated and the staff took great care to make our stay very pleasant. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean. Bed comfort was average. Bfast included in the morning was really good (all the fixings were there-waffles/eggs/bacon/fruit/etc.). It was actually the best breakfast we had on our trip. Free onsite parking was included. Overall we enjoyed the hotel. Only regret is that it is a bit removed from the downtown, but close to Route 1 and an easy 1.5 mile drive to the middle of downtown. Might be nice if they offered a shuttle for guests in the future? Worth a quick stay.

I was expecting something a little more luxurious for the price. We were given a handicapped room though we didn't have disabilities or request such and the shower was adapted for a wheelchair: a bench and hand held spray. No HBO or premium television channels.
Adjacent to small shops and restaurant and a larger shopping mall accross the street.
Several miles from Carmel village. Would make another choice next time.

This is one of those classic hotels where you pull up and think "how quaint - an old style motel" just off Highway 1. How wrong you would be!

The interior has been lovingly renovated, and now provides a really nice, vibrant and exceptionally clean space.

Our room was of a really good size, and although it looked over the parking area, this did not matter. The bed was very comfy, the bathroom exceptionally well done, and the decor was bright but not over done. Complimentary wi-fi, good TV, nice bathroom accessories and a safe all added to it.

The staff were exceptional. So helpful and if not for them we might not have discovered the delights of Carmel by the Sea versus Monterey! Just head on in to Carmel for a wonderful experience of a small town where people really care - and don't forget to visit the Mission, it is a real treat! It is very clear that the staff take a real pride in their hotel and Carmel.

The bar, and the band that was providing the entertainment the night we stayed, was great fun. Definitely worth checking out. On the night we were there they also had a happy hour - not only good priced drinks, but also a great selection of nibbles (and even soup!) to keep you going!

The breakfast was fantastic. We had breakfast incuded in our stay - and having just expected a continental breakfast, we were amazed to be offered an extensive buffet selection of both hot and cold selections - and it was really good.

We chose not to eat in the hotel (even though the menu looked great!), and went to the pizzaria "Allegro", which is in the Barnyard (a small, nicely done set of boutiques and eateries just behind the hotel). This was a really nice choice if you want something straighforward and relaxed.

Just across the road from the hotel there is a much bigger set of shops - which you can't really call a mall as it is set out more as a village/town might be. Worth a look - and good for stocking up on essentials you might need.

Carmel itself is only a short drive from the hotel (as is Monterey) - but if you want to eat in Carmel it might just be worth investing in taking a cab so you can enjoy the food and wine!

As many have done before us we thought we were booking the Mission Ranch. This inn turned out to be a better place for us to stay. It is a lovely old properly that is maintained very well. The breakfasts were fantastic. We ate dinner at Mission Ranch and had a nice visit there but we were glad we stayed at this lovely inn.
