“Nice Weekend Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012

Nice hotel, centrally located to shopping and dining in Carmel by the sea. Very clean rooms, comfy beds, flat screen tv with partial ocean view. There is a heated pool, which we did not use but it looked well maintained also. Pretty quiet no noises coming from surrounding rooms. Only complaint is that it is not a dog friendly hotel, and Carmel is largely a dog friendly city. Even one of the restaurants directly across the street allow pets. There are 2 retaurants directly across the street Forge in the Forest and Carmel Food Company. So if you are looking to take the family pet, this is not the place for you. There seems to be plenty of parking although it is a bit tight. Other than that, i would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Carmel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors have ocean views

Room was excellent though a little difficult to keep warm in the rain, wind and cold. Location worked well for walking around Carmel and spending time on the beach. Staff most helpful. Breakfast like any Best Western was boarderline but you know that when you book.

Room Tip: Top floor and unless you really wnat a view stay on the quiet side.

Although there were cheaper rooms in the motel, we opted for a king bed room with an ocean view. It came with a balcony that over looks the bay, fridge, coffee maker, excellent wifi, a gas fire place and a quality breakfast selection. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Close to the centre of town and easy access to the beach, either a walk down the hill or drive to the all day carpark. Wish we had more time to stay.

Room Tip: Room 46, ocean view, great for a romantic weekend.

Frequent visitors to Carmel/Monterey. I booked through Orbitz bad move better room avail. at same location (but also had a view)thru AAA for $15 dollars less. We usually frequent the properties on upper San Carlos but good reviews tempted us to try this location. ROOM was clean, spacious and comfortable, but beginning at 05:00 the street noise started, if you are an early riser this will be just fine.First the street cleanner, a then trash pick up and followed by large delevery trucks and the strret cleaner again. This propererty also ofeers a hot breakfast which is a nice touch. However we did not have an oppertunity to try this as the breakfast room was woefully small for the occupancy numbers of this place People were standint to eat.
A plus is convience to down town shopping. Iwould not stay here again

Room Tip: Stay on upper san Carlos less noisy

Both times we stayed it was very nice, first time we stayed on the upper floor which was nice that room had a fireplace. The second time around we were on a ground floor without a view except of the parking lot, but still very nice room by the office. Walking around the town area was easy, had dinner at Jack London's bar and grill.
Another must do is, the 17 mile drive.....

Room Tip: Do try and get a upper room with a view.

This Best Western hotel could compare to many of the high end hotels like Marriott or Hyatt Hotels. No this Hotel does not have a great restaurant on site, but with so many great restaurants around who cares. Next door to this hotel is a great deli and liquor store that caries great wines. The room, king bed, fireplace with ocean view, was fantastic! The bedding was great and the room was large as was the balcony. You could easily set 6 adults on the balcony and the ocean view was great with the ability to see for miles looking to the south down the cost line. As for being clean this room gets a 10 from me, even the TV remote was in a bag and had been sterilized, everthing here was spotless! This Hotel gets a 10 from me!

Room Tip: Spend the extra and get the Ocean view room.

We stayed here for one night after going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in the day time. Camel is one town over so not far at all. Maybe 10 minutes. Good variety of restaurants within walking distance. We also walked down to the beach from the hotel. Although, it is downhill to the beach, meaning you will eventually go uphill, it's still not a bad walk. The room itself seems to have gone through some renovations. Flat screen tv. Old Armoire now holds the fridge and coffee maker. Free breakfast in the morning was pretty decent. French toast was nice.
