“Great place for lunch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

Loved this charming small place that had the best sandwiches. They have a great turkey& swiss sandwich as well as the albacore tuna. Sandwiches are served with a side of fresh fruit with fresh whipped cream. The coconut cream pie was to die for!

“Great breakfasts and lunches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

We ate there for lunch and had a great fresh fruit plate and cottage cheese. Fruits were varied and very fresh, Good lettuce base. It came with an unusual scone. It was round, cut in eight pieces, melted butter on top with fresh marmalade and raspberry jam and whipped cream. The wait staff was great and we had a wonderful meap; It's small and you have to push hard to get the little cottage house door to open, but it is a wonderful place to have a nice breakfast or lunch.

“Wonderful lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

This was our second visit to Carmel-by-the-Sea but our first to The Tuck Box. It lived up to its reputation as a great little lunch place - the food was delicious and the service just right. My daughter, granddaughter and I had lunch there as part of our annual "girl trip" to Carmel. The scones and accompanying marmalade, jam and clotted cream topped off a perfect meal. Cost was very reasonable ($10-$15 per person for lunch, including soup and scones). Highly recommend The Tuck Box both as a restaurant and a beautiful part of Carmel history! Just an extra note - they don't take credit cards - cash only. There are a couple of ATM machines within a block or so if you're caught short.

“What scones are supposed to be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

If you've never been to England and want to have some authentic scones, this is the place to go. Big, flaky, hot scones with unbelievably good jams and thick, heavy whipped cream. Actually, probably better than most I've had in England. Tea is great - we buy some to take home every time we go there. Shrimp salad is great too.

“Wouldn't go back!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

We came here based on the reviews that we read prior to our trip to Carmel and were a little disappointed. For my husband and I it was just ok. We both had a ham omelette. I thought it was odd that no potatoes came with it like any other restaurant has. So you have to order the potatoes separate. Kind of alecart which is wierd. The food was definitely nothing to write home about and very expensive. 2 omelettes with coffee, side of potatoes and 1 piece of ham for 50.00. YIKES!!. Also remember CASH ONLY. We didnt like that part at all and there are no signs stating this. The place is cute to look at (mostly from the outside) besides that wouldn't go back.
