“Don't stay here if you want comfort”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

Recently stayed here because of the reviews and location ,but we were really disappointed ! The beds are really cheap and the springs will poke you in the back. The hotel was clean but lacked privacy. No air conditioner and no fan so sleeping with the windows open was the only way to have circulation witch made it unsafe. Also as stated by a previous review the woman at the front desk was really unfriendly and rude. We were planning on staying two nights but left early and went to the Monterey Plaza Hotel. Way better! Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

First the hotel has paper thin walls. You can hear people having a conversation outside in the parking lot. So you can imagine everything else you can hear (from toilets being flushed to people checking in, to TV noise, etc).

Second, the female manager of the hotel was extremely unhelpful and rude.
Although we were out all morning from 9am-1pm, she exclaimed that the maid needed to go home so if we wanted our rooms cleaned that they could not be cleaned after 2pm.
Second, when we went to check out after a two night stay, we asked to have her hold our one small suitcase in the office because our flight was not until later that evening. Initially she flat out refused, then told us that she didn't have any where she could keep it (although there is storage & an office area) so it had to be left in the middle of the lobby in the breakfast area, and that we had to pick it up by 1pm because that was when other guests started to arrive. We then told her that most hotels would do this no problem and for what we paid for the quality of the hotel, this was a very small request. She continued to be very rude and unhelpful until we finally convinced her to let us leave the bag in her lobby until 7pm that evening.

I will never stay in this hotel again (even though we will be back in August) and will recommend to anyone going to the area to avoid this hotel & Comfort Inn at all costs.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 days on a recent visit to Carmel by the Sea. It is an easy walk to any venue downtown. Our room was clean, crisp and fragrant. The breakfast is average, but sufficient. Onsite parking is limited, but parking on the street is available. Noise from other tenants is evident when windows are open.

My family of four stayed for two nights. This was my fifth stay at this comfort Inn. I like it because it is always clean and quiet. Rooms are not real big but are modern and comfortable. This is located within a short walking distance from shops and restaurants as parking in Carmel can be difficult on busy weekends. Also served every morning is a continental breakfast with a good variety of choices. There is not a pool but we didn't miss it. There is a nice patio area. I will definitely stay here again.

My daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights over Memorial Weekend. The room was small but clean. Free Wi-fi, comfortable beds, and great water pressure for shower. The location was great in that we were close to town to walk and easy to access by car. The parking is limited on site, but easily found parking on a side street even though it was a holiday weekend.

After much review of the many places to stay in Carmel we could not have been happier with our choice to stay here. The location was perfect and in walking distance of everything. The Inn itself was adorable with beautiful gardens and a nice patio to sit outside on instead of your room if desired. The room itself was small but clean, comfortable and all that we needed, including wifi and parking. We would definitely recommend anyone to stay here as we will be again if we are ever lucky to visit beautiful Carmel again.

Spent 1 night here last week while driving the Pacific Coast Highway. It was an absolutely perfect place to stop for a rest. Besides the fact that the hotel is just steps from quaint streets, shops and restaurants of Carmel, the property is filled with character and charm. The room was lovely and and the free breakfast, wifi and parking is a bonus. I would absolutely return and would recommend anyone planning to stay the night in Carmel to stay here.
