“Loved the Orchids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2008

We stayed at this very enjoyable Inn and especially loved the tour Dennis provided of the orchids. The room was spacious, clean and the gas fireplace was a nice touch. I would strongly recommend staying at the Wayfarer Inn if you have the opportunity and try for more than one night as Carmel and vicinity cannot be seen in one day.

Found this place on the internet and especially good reviews on Trip Advisor so booked room 8. We found it to be just charming, clean, beautiful Christmas decorations, accomodating staff, wonderful breakfasts and afternoon wine service. The owners came in on Christmas
bringing home made goodies and chile and a good time was had by all. A gem of a place in an area where things can get very pricey. We had a
wonderful time and are going back.

  • Liked — Clean and well meaintained and decorated.

I stayed at this delightful inn while travelling the California coastal area. Our room was #10, which has a folding door separating the two bedroom/bath areas, allowing extra privacy. The rooms are quaint, clean, comfortable, and quiet, even on the first floor. This
room has the added convenience of a door on to the street, where you can park your car and have easy access for packing/unpacking (in addition to the door on to the courtyard garden).

As everyone has noted, the wine & cheese tasting is great, and the breakfast better than expected, with home made breads or lemon bars as a highlight. The staff is accommodating, and they prepared a coffeemaker tray for our room. Just ask if you need anything. Easy access to town, walking or driving. But the real charm is the garden
courtyard, brimming with flowers (even orchids!) and accented by the outdoor fireplace. It is so relaxing that we stayed an extra night. Will look forward to staying there again.

  • Liked — Relaxing atmosphere, personal service, beautiful garden.
  • Disliked — No complaints!

I decided to book a night at this Inn after reading the good reviews about it and found them to be true! As we were on a road trip from SF to Vegas, we stayed there for only 1 night.

This quaint little inn is about 2 blocks from the streets of shops and restaurants. We thought that the rates were very reasonable, $175 for 2 connecting rooms each with an attached toilet, which is the rate of what you would pay for 1 room elsewhere.

Even though our room(s) was downstairs, next to the dining room, we were not inconvenienced by it in any way. We loved that it was quiet and the innkeepers were friendly. Dennis even displayed the Singapore flag the day that we were there! It was touching that he went the extra mile to make us feel welcomed!

The breakfast was a treat with cereals, pastries, bread, cakes and a waffle machine. I read that they also had a cheese and wine session every afternoon but a pity that we missed it by the time we arrived and had to leave early!

If we had to chance to go to Carmel again, we'd definitely stay at Carmel Wayfarer Inn.

my wife and i returned to the wayfarer inn in september of 07 for a six day stay and once again, dennis and his staff were very accomodating. the weather was great. the breakfast served in the morning seems like it was expanded over last year. that and the cheese and wine reception in the afternoon, that alone is one of the reasons to visit the inn. however, the biggest improvement was the upgrading of all bed linens , down comforters and bath towels. we slept like logs, the mattress was extremely comfortable and all was very nice, neat and clean. so once again while we were there we booked for another six days in 08. excellent value for the money. we highly recommend it. wally and grete of az

We stayed in Room 8 which is upstairs at the end of the balcony so no passing traffic. We had a kitchen with full cooking facilities although we ate out so did not test them out. There was no hairdryer in our room which I did not discover until I had washed my hair so had to towel dry it and hope for the best. Lovely little courtyard with tables for you to sit at. Breakfast was nice, waffles, yoghurts and toast and the staff are very friendly. Location is a little way from beach but shops and restaurants all within easy walking distance. Parking can be an issue if the Inn is fully booked as only a small car park and timed parking in the streets surrounding it. We had to park on the road and keep watch for a space luckily as we arrived on a Sunday the weekend guests were leaving but I should imagine it is a problem over the weekend/holiday period.

Stayed for a night at The Wayfarer Inn. The grounds are very nice, courtyard with a fireplace and nice garden area. We had booked an upstairs room with a "view of Point Lobos". Room was nicely decorated, view was non-existent. Location was a little farther uptown than we had anticipated, but still within walking distance to the beach and stores. A nice wine and cheese hour and a good breakfast buffet are included in the price. The Hog's Breath is very short walk for a nice dinner or just drinks in their fantastic courtyard with many fireplaces.
