“Good Food, Amazing Views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

Stopped by this gem on a trip down to Big Sur. It's hidden down a small road on the side of the road, but it's worth navigating the road to visit this restaurant at the end.

I had an order of ribs which whose meat was so tender that it fell off the bones with a gentle prod. And, for desert, a "goat cheese" cheesecake--which was very unique and delicious.

The best part of the meal, however, was sitting outside and being able to watch the ocean. During my meal a pod of humpback whales could be seen surfacing for air in the distance--moving north up the coast. It made a great restaurant visit, amazing.

Stop by here if you're on the CA-1 drive south or north and looking for some refreshment and even more amazing costal views.

“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

What can be said about the view? You are overlooking some of the most beautiful coastline in the world! On a nice day there can be no better way to enjoy a meal.

The menu has lots of choices and the items we ordered were all very good. Maybe a bit pricey but the land this place is on has to be incredibly expensive and somehow they have to pay for it. So yes, you are paying for the view. But it is so worth it.

Service was only okay. Our waitress seemed to not know how to put things on the table or refill our cups without getting her elbows and arms all over the table and in our way. Also, the port wine my wife ordered was not available and without asking they gave her a different one. That was fine until the bill came and they charged a higher amount for the replacement. Had they asked and we consented I could understand that but by replacing it on their own they should have charged the original price. When I pointed that out to the waitress she just said that is their policy. I asked for the manager and he changed the bill but reluctantly. That left a sour taste but the rest of the experience was so good that we did not let it spoil a late afternoon lunch in paradise.

“Great view and decent food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

Visited this driving from Big Sur and the view was great. Food was good (what we had, appetizers).

NE Clam Chowder was VERY good. Oysters, were VERY good, Tuna was good. Soup of the day was not good, needed seasoning.

Service was good. Nice place to stop and have a drink or a quick bite.

Rocky Point Restaurant “View is not the only reason you visit Rocky Point”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014 NEW

Noticed that many management improvements have happened at Rocky Point. Old managers are all gone. In order to improve Rocky Point's cuisine & services, we had to replace several executive chefs and three general managers during the first year of operation...This is largely due to my inexperience as a first time restaurant owner. The new interim manager/Chef formerly of Ritz-Carlton-San Francisco is in residence at Rocky Point to oversee the entire operation. More top ranked guest chefs and managers will join us soon. The new menu is excellent. Renovation at all levels including a private dinning room which shall open in a month. We are encouraged and grateful to so many excellent and honest comments coming from all over the world. Thanks. We have learnt much during the first year of operation and will continue to excel our cuisine & food services during 2014. Our motto is to renovate the infrastructure to make Rocky Point shine again then followed with new management team during the second year. To see is to believe. Do come to see us---Peter C C Wang
