“Great ambiance, service & vegetarian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

This was out best dining experience this trip in Carmel. We will be sure to come back. The food was simply outstanding. I usually avoid gnocchi, but the spinach gnocchi literally melted in my mouth & was heavenly. We also ordered french fries but simply could not eat that. We had grilled artichoke, but not with the aioli which had egg, but marinated with garlic & butter, & this was simply the best artichoke dish we had. The garlic added a nice flavor. Also, the ambiance is very nice. The seats are scattered around the restaurant in small quarters under a roof or outdoors on their open patio with heat lamps, giving every table privacy - usually only a few tables around your own. Decorations & style seem to reflect a small European village or town. The service was also nice. Out waitress Rachel was not too familiar with ingredients to satisfy our wish to eat eggless vegetarian, so she got someone from management who helped us out.

“A Long Schlep to a Ravishing Meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

A couple of friends get together with us every year to eat here. They have a wine list that you need a Dewey Decimal system for and from which you can get any bottle from reasonably to ridiculously priced (we went for the Morgan Twelve Clones pinot noir, which we like). They used to have a three-course meal that included a veggie/olive appetizer (not counted as a course) with savory dips, and the diner could choose from among appetizers, desserts and main dishes. However, everything's a la carte now, but that's all right. They most likely realized that not everyone is going to want to eat that much, or want dessert, so it made the price somewhat less. They've also included small plates, which are wonderful to share. Their scallops are succulent and they have a very good selection of cheeses on their dessert cheese plate, which is served with comb honey. The odd thing is the long trek to the table. The restaurant looks small, but you're led through corridors and down stairs and across patios until you're there. It's as if Oona Goosepimple's house (from Nancy comics in the late 1950s) had been turned into a gourmet establishment. Highly recommended.

“Top Notch... Yes 5 star food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012 via mobile

Yes, Expect Five Star Service and Dining Experience at this wonderful little place in Carmel-by-the-Sea! Also, expect Five Star prices! We enjoyed tomatoe bisque and gnocci for appetizers. My husband ordered veal and I had the pasta with mushrooms...vegetarian. All very nice. Manager stopped by to check on our status. They really seem to care about the customer experience here.

“Foodie extravaganza , beautiful Carmel atmosphere .”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012 via mobile

First and foremost , Cassanova's is a restaurant that is iconic in Carmel. I hadn't been for a very long time. On a quick weekend trip it was tough to decide which restaurant to go to. We chose Cassanova's , so glad we did!! Not to be missed the gnocchi !! Melts in your mouth, really. The scallops were Huge and cooked perfect , very large portion.
The venison Osso Bucco was served with beautifully braised root vegetables.
Portions were very good for the price and the flavor of each dish. Our server was very very good .
Corkage fee is $30, too high!
Enjoyed the evening.

“Used to be a great place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

This used to be a fantastic place, now the food is something I could get from a Microwave dinner and the noise level requires ear protection. The only good thing is they take pets and their service is usually good. That is unless you want to linger. This was the quickest dinner we had during the entire stay, in and out in 45 minutes. The Seafood was overcooked and the Cannelloni Romagnola was over sauced. Taka a picture outside because it is a great photo, then walk around the corner to Grasing’s, they take pets as well and the food is fantastic.
