“Live like a local in Carmel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Our family of 5 ( incl 2 teens & a 9 yr old), enjoyed a wonderful stay at this beautifully quaint and central hotel. Staff were all very friendly and we received a very warm welcome on arrival with cookies and chocolates in our room! We loved the Continental breakfast delivered to our room each morning and it was always fresh, tasty and absolutely adequate. It was so lovely to be able to sit and eat it in our pj's! We had a 2 roomed suite and the beds were very comfy, the Wifi worked perfectly and we had plenty of space. My only complaint was that the shower in one of the bathrooms wasn't working very well. We loved the centrality of this hotel to shops, galleries and the fantastic restaurants of Carmel. There isn't a bar or restaurant on site, however there is no shortage of great bars and restaurants a short walk away so it didnt matter to us. We would return to the Adobe Inn if we are lucky enough to return to beautiful Carmel.

Room Tip: The 2 bed suite is the one to go for.

The hotel's best feature is the location, right in the middle of Carmel-by-the-Sea, within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, wine bars, and all kinds of shops. Our king room was large and the fireplace worked well, but we didn't use the balcony overlooking the street and construction.

Although the linens and amenities were nice, the bath was dated and faucets dripped. 'Twas nice to have the continental breakfast delivered to the room. It would have been better had they served earlier: having to wait until 8:30 for the first service cut into our active days.

The below-hotel free parking was a plus.

Room Tip: Higher and in the back would be better than facing the street, both for passersby and across-the-str...

Very spacious room, in well-located hotel. My room was an upper corner room, with good views towards the sea (though trees prevented much view of the sea itelf).

Carmel is a charming town and a good place to stop off if you're doing the PCH route. The Adobe Inn is very close to the centre.

The underground car park is a good bonus.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper corner room.

Adobe Inn is one of the best properties I have stayed in; located about one third mile from the ocean this property provided great friendly service at a very affordable rate. We felt very welcomed by property manager and staff.

Room Tip: Adobe Inn exceeded my and my husband's expectations. I only have to say this was one of the best...

We are long time Carmel visitors and found the Adobe Inn to be the best overall. The room was unusually large by Carmel standards with long balcony on 2 sides with view of the ocean. The rooms were recently renovated, clean and well maintained. The continental breakfast was delivered at the door each morning and it was more than adequate with a variety of items. The hotel has underground parking with elevator which is not typical for Carmel hotels and a blessing when traveling "heavy" as we do. The staff were especially professional and went out of their way to make our stay the best possible and they were successful. The hotel's location couldn't be any better with excellent restaurants, shops and galleries only one block away and the beach within easy walk. I highly recommend this hotel and already have plans to return in September.

Our recent 3-night stay was wonderful. The Adobe Inn is located in a great location, within walking distance to just about everything, yet just far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. We stayed in a king room that featured a fireplace and balcony with partial ocean view in the distance. The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff are very attentive. About the only thing that they could improve upon would be the choices for the in-room breakfast.

We had a nice room with a fireplace and partial view of the sea. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was good and fresh! Even though it was chilly in Carmel, a quick dip in the heated pool was refreshing. Serge, Barbara and Gina were quite nice and helpful in every way.

We would definitely go back when we visit Carmel. It's a close walk to tall the restaurants, as well as to the ocean.

Luckily for me it was also just steps from one of the best vintage guitar stores ever!
