“Some of the best service I have experienced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2010

Everyone in the check in office was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I felt as though they genuinely cared to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. The room seemed a bit crowded with all the furniture but everything was super clean. It was nice to have an actual refrigerator that we could use and I liked having a fireplace. The downtown restaurants and shops were within 10 minutes' walking distance, so we didn't feel like we were in the middle of nowhere. The only thing I wish I could change about this place would be to put it right on the ocean. While it seems a bit pricey, it looks like everyone else around cost about the same. I guess Carmel isn't cheap.

Overall, it was a nice, short romantic getaway for my fiance and me. I would definitely stay here again.

It was a totally wonderful experience due to the quality of the service and the serene decor of the hotel. The room was extremely comfortable and beautiful. The location offers one of the best locales in California within walking distance.

We were welcomed warmly, the room was beautiful and comfortable, the staff helpful to recommend places and sites to see, the area is gorgeous, and this Inn is a perfect end to the day.

We have been spending a December weekend in Carmel for years. The golf, shopping, food, beach... always wonderful. The Inn where we stayed had become a little run down and we found we were being woken up during the night by loud yelling etc. Not so good. Last year we discovered Tradewinds. Amazing. Our room was quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and well appointed, with a spectacular view of the ocean and a lovely fireplace. The employees are helpful and polite and the breakfast was generous. In fact, everything about our trip seems better now. Thank you Tradewinds. We are happy to be regulars with you now.

For my girlfriend's birthday, she wanted to spend the weekend in Carmel. A few weeks before, we did several searches online and came across Tradewinds. I called to get some clarifications on the description on the "Love in Bloom" package and then booked it. When I called, Daphne was very courteous and helpful in explaining the package and the room booking policies and answered all of my questions.

I mentioned that we were celebrating my girlfriend's birthday and it was our first time staying at Tradewinds. Daphne was kind enough to give us a free upgrade to a partial ocean view room since the room was available. Also included in the package was a 90 minute split massage and a $75 dining certificate. We made reservations for the massage time while booking the room and a few days later, notified Tradewinds of our choice of where to use the $75 certificate. Again, Daphne was very courteous and sent an email to confirm the massage appointment and the dinner reservations.

We arrived late around 9pm. After check-in, we were escorted to our room by one of the employees. He offered to help with our baggage and also got a bucket of ice for us.

The room was beautiful and just like the pictures on the website. I think our room was actually the deluxe king that is pictured on the website that has the great balcony view. As we entered, we heard the relaxing sounds of chillout type music was playing from the CD clock radio and sounds from a small water fountain. On the table was a greeting card signed by the GM, along with a plate of two chocolate covered strawberries.

Stepping out onto the balcony, we couldn't see much since it was dark, but we could hear the sounds of the ocean. When we went back onto the balcony in the morning, we had an awesome view of the mountains and ocean. There are lots of other Inns in Carmel, but this one was the best with the balcony view.

We we checked out two days later, we were helped by Daphne, who again was very nice and courteous.

This place is a bit more on the pricey side, but if you don't mind spluring a little while in Carmel, I totally recommend Tradewinds.

A few other helpful things to mention. The front desk closes at 10pm so take note if you plan for a late night check-in. Use the kimono robes. They are very comfy. Get a room on the top floor with a balcony if available. When you book a room, call them and do it by phone instead of online. This way they can give you a more personalized experience when booking everything.

my husband and i stayed here for our 20th wedding anniversary. We were able to bring our 2 irish setters with us and we all had a great time. Our room had a wonderful fireplace and a large bathroom with a spa tub. We even had our own balacony. We had our breakfast (included) to our room which we ate on our balcony. the location is great-downtown but at the end of a quiet street
