“Delightful little village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

A fun way to spend the day--we did the historic walk around the village (download it from the Carmel website), & really enjoyed it. We loved the "Hansel & Gretel" houses, which we never would have known about if it hadn't been part of the historic walk program--definitely the highlight of our Carmel visit!

“Charming adorable village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

A lovely artist colony with beautiful shops and galleries. So many streets to stroll on. We stopped at the Tux Box for scones and tea. Adorable building. The beach was also nice to stroll on.

“Great way to warm up in the cold Carmel weather”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Pro:
Great fire pit in the middle of the patio. We really enjoyed our dinner by the fire given the cold temperatures despite the month (August).
Fine food.
Great 15% off with coupon that we were given when dining in a "sister" restaurant, the Ocean Grill.
the manager was really frinedly and accomodating, smiling from the first moment we stepped in, which is always a great welcome.

Con: Pricey.

“Carmel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

We loved Carmel. All the wonderful art galleries, quirky shops and nice boutique shops. So many restaurants of every variety. At the bottom of the village is the Beach wonderful for dog spotting, water cold, but nice for a beach walk.

“Charming, dog-friendly, walkable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

Carmel is a lovely town right by the beach. It's incredibly charming and reminds me a bit of a Solvang-type village, but far less kitschy.

I'd recommend staying for a couple days to relax and enjoy the beach, restaurants, shops, and wine tasting rooms. If you have a dog, rest easy knowing that it's a VERY dog-friendly town. Most of the restaurants and stores allow your pup and many have bowls of water and treats outside the door. You can also let your dog off-leash at the beach!

Most of the boutiques are a pricey, and they even have some more expensive stores like Tiffany and Coach. The restaurants are good and there are plenty to choose from. It's not really a place with a 'nightlife,' I only saw a couple of bars. In any case, we most enjoyed just hanging out at the beach and going wine tasting.
