nice little fairy tale city, but overall quite expensive and snob. lots of fancy sports cars around, and many rolls royces, if you enjoy watching rich people showing up, this is a place.

“Absolutely Beautiful”

We stopped for 2 1/2 days in Carmel and Monterey area. Went on the Carmel Walks Tour first to learn about Carmel (recommended), then continued exploring the area. There are flowers here that are huge compared to how they grow in our area of Louisiana. The whole town was so quaint & clean & kept up. We thoroughly enjoyed shopping in downtown, eating at Village Corner Restaurant and Brophy's Pub and driving around the homes in the area including the Hugh Comstock houses. My girls really enjoyed a little hat shop on Ocean Ave. The town kind of slopes down towards the sea. If you drive west down Ocean Ave (the main street), you dead end at Carmel Beach. You can access Scenic Drive here, which has many beautiful homes facing the ocean. My whole family had a great time here and want to come back & spend more time. (Parking on the street is for 2 free hours and there is a meter maid that drives around looking for violators. Be careful. There are bathrooms available.)

“Very classy place”

A very good range of shops - even a Christmas shop!! It was a very classy area just to browse around.

“A quick visit”

Carmel is a very bustling township... Locals and tourists fill the shops and streets and roads... We found a wonderful restaurant for lunch but did not shop as it was so overcrowded.

“Pretty worth a visit”

Loved walking around. All very pretty. Shops very expensive - a little contrived.
