“Excellent Location and Very Clean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014 via mobile

The rooms are very comfortable and clean, the service is great, and you can't beat the location. For the price (relative), this place is a good deal. The rooms were probably remodeled 10 years ago, but they are so clean, everything feels new.

Dear D S,
Thanks so much for the kind words, and I really appreciate your mention of our housekeeping team. They work very hard for our guests, and it's nice to have their efforts noticed and applauded. Since your stay we have re-carpeted all of the rooms (well, they'll all be done this week), and are in the process of painting all the rooms. All spruced up!

Hope to see you again soon!
Best,

I had a number of contacts with the staff prior to our arrival for recommendations for Easter brunch. They were so helpful and friendly. The rooms are somewhat dated, but so is Carmel itself which is the charm of the place. The beds were very comfortable, the room, and specially the bathroom, is very clean. I was a bit concerned because of some, less favorable reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Breakfast was served in the room, which we enjoyed on the balcony.

Of course, there is no restaurant and fitness center so average rating.

Room Tip: We stayed in a first floor room with a balcony which was very nice.

This hotel is in the prime location for downtown Carmel. That's really the only big plus. It's noisy, run down and very much like a motel. They do have free breakfast that they bring every morning (however we only somehow received it 1 day), decent shower and TV. No frills...However, for the cost and location it's worth it.

My boyfriend and I booked this hotel for its (relatively) reasonable price and absolutely fantastic location in downtown Carmel. Although it doesn't look particularly fancy from the exterior, the room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. Originally we were given a room on the ground floor with windows facing the road, which was concerning because my boyfriend and I are both light sleepers. However, upon asking we were moved to a quiet room on the top floor with windows facing the inner courtyard with no fuss at all. Very considerate! Plus free parking and free wifi, and they even let us leave our car in the lot after check-out while we went and ate brunch nearby. I recommend this hotel unreservedly.

I booked this not knowing where it was located...I must say from location to friendliness of the staff to a delivered continental breakfast....what more could you ask for!! I would certainly return for another visit.

We stayed one night in this older, but well maintained lodge. Our room was small but the bed was comfortable. It was a tight squeeze in the bathroom, but everything worked well. Breakfast was very simple, but was tasty. Parking is provided in a lot in the back of the hotel. This place is close to town; easy to walk to the town and the beach. The staff was helpful.

Lowest rate in Carmel. My room was generous in size and comfortable. It could use a new coat of paint and the bathroom is dated but in perfect working order. The bed was really great. The breakfast was simple and a fine way to start the day. Free parking, free Wi-Fi. The Carmel Lodge is just a couple of blocks from the center street in town and just one block from the Hogs Breath. Though I didn't have a dog, those pups that were on premise seemed happy. As with any hotel/motel, your experience will greatly depend on if you are lucky enough to have quiet neighbors.
