I had a livingsocial deal to go here and was pleasantly surprised at the experience.

I was in room M-2 (Chelsea):

* Great staff (Jordan is a cool guy and knows a lot about the area).
* The room was quiet so it's a nice place to rest away from home.
* The decor is a dated but it gives a nice artsy/boutique feel to the place. (I think it was intentional)
* The bed was a bit stiff and a tad small for me.
* Breakfast was mostly carbs, I wish there were some eggs and bacon/sausages.
* Afternoon port & sherry was cool (5pm-6pm) and it's a good time to socialize in the office/lobby to chat with other folks staying there to get dining tips.
* Close to lots of restaurants and a couple blocks away from the local grocery store (Brunos).
* I didn't use the kitchen in the room, but it seems like it's pretty useful. Next time I go, I'd buy some eggs and bacon (and frying oil, spices, etc, etc) to bring along with me to add to the free morning continental breakfast in the office.

We recently stayed in room 46 and absolutely loved it!

It is more like a suite than a room, very spacious. We loved the layout so much, my husband said that if we ever build a vacation cabin somewhere, he would base the floor plan on this room.

The innkeeper when we were there on a recent weekend, Carol, was very helpful during our stay.

My only complaint was that the bathroom was a bit small and cramped. I loved the shower, lots of water pressure! (I'm very picky about showers).

The bedroom window faces the driveway for parking, which could be problematic. I briefly heard a little bit of noise the first night from some fellow guests when they came in from a night on the town but otherwise it was quiet.

The king-sized bed was very comfortable and while it almost filled the bedroom, there was plenty of room to walk around it. There is a porch light across the driveway though the blinds in the window blocked the light so the room was dark enough for us to sleep.

All in all, a great room!

An extra tip, this room comes with off-street parking. And it has two closets!

We have stayed several times at the Briarwood Inn. The rooms are very clean, and many have fireplaces (which we love). If you enjoy a walk, it is very convenient to walk down to the ocean and see the views of Cypress trees, lovely homes, etc.
If you enjoy shopping, this Inn is just a couple of blocks from the main street, Ocean Avenue. The shops in Carmel are very enjoyable.
We think their breakfast room offers nice things to get your day started.
The rates have a good range, from the Ashley Room which is small but inexpensive, to some of the larger rooms with high prices. Still, this Inn is definitely affordable compared to many in Carmel.

The Briarwood Inn is a charming and a good place to stay while in Carmel. It is close to many fine restaurants, near downtown Carmel, and they accept pets( for a fee) Our room was comfortable, with a kitchen and a small porch making it a good size rental. The staff were very helpful and the B&B itself was larger than I expected. Even though it's near downtown, no traffic noise can be heard. It's charming and we will go back.

The rooms were very quaint and clean. I was impressed with the staff. They were nice and helpful, especially Carol who was able to recommend great restaurants and local attractions. I definitely plan to return.

Although we had planned to bring our dog, but did not at the last minute, we were still placed in a "pet friendly" room. Not bad at all actually - a second floor, darling studio-like with kitchen, large bathroom and a separate bedroom area. We thought we'd surely consider staying there again until we had our 'continental breakfast'. Sliced apples and cold muffins....? Give me strength. We ended up having a warm and delicious breakfast down the street.

We had a wonderful stay at the Briarwood; lovely room and cozy lobby and manicured grounds! Carol the front desk manager was exceptional. She got us a reservation at Giavonni restaurant which we walked to (2 blocks). Carol also helped us find places, whale watching trip etc. and was so accommodating! We will go back for sure! Lovely place, nice and courteous staff.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back and upstairs have lovely vistas and are less noisy from street. Not a busy street...
