After checking with the locals in the Carmel area, they tried to steer us away from eating anywhere but in the Carmel By the Sea area. Anytime someone does this to me, I do the opposite of what they tell me and was I glad. The restaurant is in a shopping area called the Barnyard and it is alittle hard to find but is well worth the time. They were not overly busy and we were seated immediately. Our server, her name later, greeted us and took our drink order while we looked over the menu. The menu is well done with something for everyone. I was tired of eating fish, so I ordered the Filet and my wife ordered two appetisers, coconut shrimp and crab cakes. Our food came out quickly and was well prepared. Coming from Oklahoma, we know how a steak should be cooked. I have to say that my steak ranked in the Top 5 best steaks I have ever had. The veggie was cooked to perfection but the mashed potatoes need alittle work. My wifes food was excellent and the side dipping sauces were awesome. After we were done eating, I asked if the Manager or owner was working and she said yes, the owner was on duty. She said if there was a service problem, her name was Frank, and I told her that I wanted to compliment the restaurant. Tony the owner came by and I told him how we came to eating there, and he said that happens quite often. Karen our server brought us Coconut Creme Pie that is to die for but I'll warn you, save some extra room because it's enough for two to three people. Of all the restaurants we ate at during our week in San Francisco and outlying areas, This was the TOP restaurant for food and service. Prices are moderate compared to other restaurants in the area and well worth the money. When we go back, this restaurant will be at the top of our list.
