My husband and I booked this place for our honeymoon and stayed in Room 11. It was just beautiful! We especially loved the gas fireplace, which we used every morning and evening, The big picture windows brought welcome sunlight into the room each morning and overlooked a beautifully manicured courtyard and fountain. The bedding was comfortable with lots of pillows and blankets - a big plus in my book. We had a small kitchen in our room, which was another nice amenity. The breakfast that was delivered to us each morning was a choice of cereal or yogurt with granola, toast or pastry, hard or soft boiled egg, juice and coffee or tea. I thought it might not be enough for my husband, who tends to like a big meal at breakfast, but it ended up being more than either of us could finish. We were tempted to take it down to the seating in the courtyard so we could enjoy the fountain and perfect weather, but instead chose to sit around by the fire sipping coffee in our pajamas while we ate.
The location of this property is perfect. They have ample parking and it is surrounded by loads of art galleries, restaurants and eclectic shops. It's also just a short drive (maybe 10 minutes) to Monterey, where there is lots to do including kayaking and whale watching. We also enjoyed a couples' massage at the onsite spa and the therapists were professional and friendly.
There were two people that helped us at the front desk. One was a southern gentleman that was extremely friendly and happy to help. He even took care of purchasing advance tickets to the aquarium for us, which was perfect because he emailed them to us so we were able to print and use them as we arrived to Monterey, before we checked into the Inn. We loved working with him! The other was a young woman who seemed pretty uninterested in us and quickly became annoyed with questions I asked about things to do in the area. We were not all that impressed with her, but overall our experience at the Vagabond's House Inn was great.
And just a small note about the wine in our room... The complimentary bottle of wine and brandy was a nice sentiment that we appreciated. Sadly though, when we opened the bottle of Cabernet to enjoy, it smelled and tasted as though it had soured or spoiled. It was pretty rancid. We ended up pouring it out. It was a nice touch, but we were disappointed that we weren't able to enjoy it.
