“looking for rooms with a view ?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2014 via mobile

We're a family with two kids and really enjoyed this hotel. the hotel offers spectacular views and overall good service.
we had two rooms close to each others, ocean view but located at the lower side of hotel. one of the rooms needed a some refurbishment. you migth want to book the higher located rooms as I believe there will be less noice from passing cars on the street.
the food in the restaurant is great and the wine selection is fantastic with a great sommelier! we got some mixed feelings of the service though, it's not always very efficient.
another plus at this hotel is that they provide bikes. you can make a nice tour to point Lobos! Valet service and reception is great.
take you're time to book the right rooms and enjoy!
we hope to come back !

We felt welcomed from the minute we arrived. Matt at the front desk was extremely accommodating and friendly. I loved drinking a glass of champagne at check in, while looking out over the beautiful ocean view. Our room was spacious, with spectacular views. If I had a complaint it would be that we could hear people walking overhead but only when the room was extremely quiet, as our room was underneath the lobby area. The grounds are lovely. We loved the binoculars in the room and did whale watching from our seating area. What a relaxing way to enjoy the day!

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are worth every penny. .

I recently visited the Highlands during the Monterey Auto week for 3 nights with my family-the room is a small efficiency with a full kitchen large jacuzzi tub king bed pull out sofa and a small deck-our faced the ocean and the view was stunning.
Checkin was efficient and the bellman was gracious and helpful with the 3 kiddies I had in tow.
The lobby lounge area is large and again the spectacular ocean view. We dined in the breakfast area which also had the fabulous view.
Nice pool and hot tub area along with some hidden hot tubs and fire pits scattered around the property.
We only received one phone call about the time share meeting-
Overall a lovely property and make sure you book a room with a view.

The Hyatt Highlands was just up the mountainside along hwy 1 (actually a little bit too close for the rooms nearest the road), and the rooms were dated but nice with king size beds and a woodburning fireplace in every room.
We were not interested in using the fireplace, as the weather was warm for us at 65 degrees, and are use to Minnesota cold for additional heat.
Many guest's were burning wood in their fireplaces and unfortunately the smoke from the chimney's down the hill would drift up and into our room if we had the balcony door open. Plus we were unable to use our wonderful balcony and enjoy the ocean views due to excessive smoke.
Otherwise the staff were wonderful and the lounge and restaurant were fantastic.
Parking easiest with the valet, since personal parking was hard to find close to the room.

Staying at Hyatt Highlands was like the ultimate luxury getaway. The grounds are beautiful, with ponds and waterfalls, and views of the ocean. The room itself was beautifully decorated, modern, and clean. There was a spa tub, fireplace, and full kitchen, as well as a deck, swivel t.v. and clean white robes ready for use if you decide to use the pool or Jacuzzis. The staff was nice and accommodating, they even saved my makeup bag that I accidentally left in the room after checkout. It was an overall great experience. It was romantic and quiet, and we loved the free wine tasting on Tuesday evening, which included cheeses, fruits, and live music. I'll certainly never forget the great time I had at the Hyatt Highlands, it was just what I needed.

I picked this hotel for my recent family vacation. One of the most beautiful resorts in the country. from the moment we checked in, all the employees were helpful in ensuring our stay was special. From the glass of champagne to advising us with day plans, finally making us a fire each evening. This resort is expensive as is most resorts with multi million dollar views, but if you can afford it, you will see the best sunsets, see whales, and hear seals while falling asleep at night.....

Room Tip: pay the extra for ocean front.....worth the money........

We stayed 3 nights in a garden view room. It was clean and spacious but we could easily hear outside street noise and people walking above us nightly. They need to soundproof the rooms which receive outside noise too easily. There is a fitness center with five or six high quality treadmills, a weightroom, and several nice elliptical trainers. The grounds have lots of stairs so if you have leg problems, you might give this a pass. However, with extraordinary views and escellent service, most people will enjoy this beautiful property. We paid with chase points so our room was free, but the normal high season rate starts at about $550 to 600/nt.

Room Tip: Try to find a room that is not below another room or you will definitely hear the up[stairs people w...
