My niece and I had a wonderful time at this B and B.

It's loaded with charm. My idea of a wonderful time at Carmel is to roll out of bed and be at the beach in minutes.

If you want luxury or perfection, you won't choose this B or B. But it's excellent value for the dollar.

We thought the staff was delightful, as well.

I have stayed here numerous times over 30 years and in almost everyone of the suites. The Doll house is still my favorite. You can lay in bed and hear the waves coming in from the beach. The quirkyness of this place makes you wish more B&B's were like this. It's so pleasant and quiet.

Dont be surprised to see famous people staying here also! The Breakfast is wonderful and no one has muffins like this place.
All of Carmel is right around the corner and you will not need a car. The beach is one block over and I highly recommend sitting on the beach with your sweetie and a bottle of wine at sunset.
I love the romantic ambiance of the garden.
Drop your cell phone in the suitcase and turn it off.
One of my favorite places in Carmel!! I keep coming back over and over!

Room Tip: Doll house is my favorite! be prepared to be charmed!

We stayed for 2 nights in the San Antonio Suite. We had friends that had just stayed at the San Antonio House and the only thing that they expressed was how small the room was, so we booked the larger suite. We were staying for 2 nights, on the 2 for 1 'deal'. The room was clean except for the caterpillars we found on the bed, couch and floor. When I called about the caterpillars, they were surprised because they had not seen them. There was some ivy growing through the wall so I am sure there were plenty of opportunities for caterpillars. I was asked if I was going to stay in the room and I said 'yes' - it was after 4pm since that is the check-in time and not the time to be trying to find another room, asking for a refund, etc. The suite is very pleasant but it is, after all, old. We have experience with low flow shower heads, but the temperature adjustment on the shower was extremely slow so that a lot of water was wasted just trying to get a reasonable shower temperature. The heaters in the suited kept the chill of but it was never warm. The pluses - location, pleasant staff, reasonable price. With a little work we found an Inn at nearly the same price that is updated in a nearby location and will be staying there next time we visit.

If i could give this place 3.5*, i would.

- We stayed at the San Antonio Suite (there're other suites in this house)
- We got the 2 for 1 deal; 2 nights for the price of 1. $225/ night
- B'fast was sent to our room; it wasn't a huge or luxurious spread, but it was very nice for the price
- LIked that there was a full kitchen with an option of cooking if one were staying more than a night (if you're staying one night, be sure to go to CASANOVA- BEST restaurant in town)
- House was clean and pleasant BUT a little dated.
- The carpet, bathroom, kitchen etc. all seemed a little old, but it was very clean
- The House is Near the beach, but not ON the beach. It's a few blocks away
- Very easy reservations; very nice and pleasant staff

A good option if you're looking for deals and not looking for a 5* B&B.

We stayed in the tree tops suite, which is a cute way of saying the room above the garage. It's not bad though and a big room. There is a gas fire in the room and with the pilot light costantly running it did smell a little. The bathroom is very small and could do with a bit of refurb. Breakfast is delivered to the room with the local paper, although this was a little dissapointing - we ordered croissants for our three night stay but we never received any because we were told that they had run out and no one had visited the bakery, coffee was pretty bad. It is overall good value, especially in Carmel, and is in a nice quiet street.

After having my convalescing mother in our house for the past few months, we needed a break. We met some friends of ours from California in Carmel. After an exhaustive search, they opted to book us at The San Antonio House Inn. They said James and Jen had been delightful to work with as they surveyed most of the properties in Carmel for accommodations for 4. In the end, they booked the Patio Suite and we were booked in the Doll House Suite. As mentioned previously, the suites are a little tired but the location was ideal. In the mornings before breakfast, we walked on the beach and enjoyed the surfers as well as the dogs playing in the sand. Breakfast was bountiful and served promptly at the requested time. We had the use of our friends patio and enjoyed eating outside and planning our days. The walk to Carmel shopping district is uphill though not very strenuous. We also enjoyed a two for one deal which made it that much better.

We stayed here for two nights in October 2010, the accomodation is a large house and garage which has been converted into 5 separate suites or rooms. We stayed in the garden room which we got for about £115 for the two nights, this was a stay for one night get second night free deal offered on their website. You get your keys and info from a separate location in Carmel, you also give your breakfast order at this time as this is delivered to your door at a time which suits you. The breakfast was excellent, you have a choice of fresh fruit, pastries, yoghurt parfait, croissant all delicious and presented beautifully. The room itself was really nice, small, but with lots of character and nice touches, including a gas open fire and roll top bath, bed was very comfortable and everything was spotless. The location was amazing, very close to the beach and a 5-10 min walk up to the centre of Carmel, although it is up quite a steep hill. We were really happy with our accomodation and would definately stay here again when visiting carmel.
Carmel itself was a beautiful place, very quaint with nice shops and a great beach with stunning views. The 17 mile drive around pebble beach is a must, it costs $9.50 per car but keep your receipt and if you have food in a pebble beach restaurant you can redeem this against your bill. We also drove down to Big sur which has amazing views of the cliffs and sea. While in Carmel visit the Dametra Cafe for lunch or dinner, very nice food and great atmosphere.
