This place was the best we stayed in during our roadtrip in the USA. Lovely home feeling, fabulous cooked brekkie (not the British kind thankfully!) and afternoon treats. Room size excellent and perfect location for beach and downtown. Highly recommended :)

Room Tip: You can ask for a family room

Stayed 3 nights in Spruce, very enjoyable. Could hear the ocean from the room. Centrally located a few blocks to beach in one direction, a few blocks to walk through town, shops, restaurants, etc., in other direction. Nice little breakfast, hot and cold, freshly prepared egg casseroles. Coffee available throughout the day, snack time at 4pm. Greta is a wonderful asset, friendly, knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk to. I would definitely stay again and would recommend.

We enjoyed 3 wonderful days at the Green Lanterne, in a big room (Evergreen), with a nice porch, from which you see (a bit of) the ocean. The staff is charming and very helpful, the breakfast is delicious, the beach is just 2 blocks away, and Ocean Ave (i.e. Downtown) is near. Unless you want to go to Big Sur or Monterey, or drive the 17 Mile Drive, you don't have to move your car. Parking is in front of the premises, and free of charge. In other words: What ever the innkeepers promise on their website is true. Excellent!

My wife and I were looking for a perfect location in Carmel that offered convenience to the beach, shopping and provided comfort. The Green Lantern Inn proved to be a good choice. We look forward to a return visit.

This property is in a perfect location for walking through this lovely town and driving the Scenic Rd. and 17mile Drive. The breakfast was fresh and tasty, the bed was comfortable and the room while not modern or fancy, gave me a feeling of coming home to the country house. We stayed in the Evergreen Room which was quiet and large. We did have a bit of an ocean view when the morning fog burned off. Coming from the NY area over July 4th holiday, I was skeptical about no a/c but was happy to need a blanket at night and light jacket in the evening!

Room Tip: Can't imagine it ever gets too noisy but the the Evergreen Room was a great location. On the se...

This is our second visit to The Green Lantern, and we are still big fans! Always will be on our list when we are in the area. This time we are here on our honeymoon, and the quiet area with the faint sound of the ocean in the background is exactly what we were looking for. Friendly staff, great breakfast, and easily within walking distance to the water and the heart of town. The rooms are cozy, yet comfortably appointed. Just enough to make you feel at home.

Room Tip: The "Laurel" room features a bit of extra room for those with bigger bags (or more of them...

My fiance and I stayed at the green lantern inn for a 2 day 2 night stay. Having gone to school in the area, I am quite familiar with what is around. For the price, you get a quaint room with nothing super fancy. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean.

The only downside was the carpets were a bit dated, and even through they were cleaned the carpets could be replaced sooner than later. Also just like most places in Monterey, and Carmel, the water pressure was a bit on the lower side, but that is not uncommon for the area.

The green lantern inn is in a great location within Carmel itself. A few blocks from the beach, and easy walking distance to many shops and restaurants. I am glad that it's a block off the main road, so its a bit quiet.

A big positive was that we were able to have a reserved parking spot, which in Carmel can be a big plus, so we knew whenever we came back, we had a parking spot and didn't have to worry about street parking. Another positive is that the staff seemed very helpful, and their breakfast is more than your standard breakfast. They offered homemade eggs and sausage, and not the pre-made eggs.

Overall a good place to stay if your not after something extremely fancy.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have A frame vaulted / shorter ceilings. Make sure to ask if the room your going...
