“Good B&B with a few drawbacks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

My fiance and I stayed at the green lantern inn for a 2 day 2 night stay. Having gone to school in the area, I am quite familiar with what is around. For the price, you get a quaint room with nothing super fancy. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean.

The only downside was the carpets were a bit dated, and even through they were cleaned the carpets could be replaced sooner than later. Also just like most places in Monterey, and Carmel, the water pressure was a bit on the lower side, but that is not uncommon for the area.

The green lantern inn is in a great location within Carmel itself. A few blocks from the beach, and easy walking distance to many shops and restaurants. I am glad that it's a block off the main road, so its a bit quiet.

A big positive was that we were able to have a reserved parking spot, which in Carmel can be a big plus, so we knew whenever we came back, we had a parking spot and didn't have to worry about street parking. Another positive is that the staff seemed very helpful, and their breakfast is more than your standard breakfast. They offered homemade eggs and sausage, and not the pre-made eggs.

Overall a good place to stay if your not after something extremely fancy.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have A frame vaulted / shorter ceilings. Make sure to ask if the room your going...

Room was quaint and breakfast and snacks very nice every day. Also tourist/restaurant information in the breakfast room. Good location in Carmel close to beach and/or downtown shops. We stayed in the Redwood room, which although it was near the street, we did not have any noise as the neighborhood was quiet. It was nice to have convenient free parking as well as a frig in the room. Rooms are "quaint" aka, spruced up, but not modernized. Everything was clean though. The room fireplace worked very well as a heater. We did not use the upstairs loft, which could get quite hot, so we kept the window open as it was when we arrived.

What a charming place! Our room was very cozy yet spacious. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. As an added bonus, a delicious breakfast was served daily. Jen was very helpful offering advice and travel tips. I can't wait for my next visit!

When we walked in to The Green Lantern Inn in Carmel it immediately reminded me of childhood summers in the 1960's and 70's in southeast Ireland. This b&b Inn has an old world magical feel to it. We stayed in The Birch room which was comfortable, clean and cosy. A fridge in the bathroom, while odd in another location, somehow wasn't at all odd here! A short walk from The Green Lantern was the absolutely magnificent beach. There are also many top class restaurants and shops to browse very close by. Breakfast is excellent and we also had some wine and cheese in the late afternoon in the reception area. All in all this is a lovely place to stay and we were sorry to leave in the end.

The grounds of the Green Lantern are beautifully tended; they're lovely to walk through and look at the flowers and foliage. The rooms need a bit of care. They are older, kind of small with bathrooms that are also small. The bed was comfortable. Homes in this area are very close together, but the walk to the beautiful beach is short and pretty.

Breakfast was okay; not really much out of the ordinary. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Room Tip: Our room was in the same building as the office and we could hear noise from that. Ask for a room n...

I've fallen in love! With Carmel! And where better to stay than the beautifully old fashioned, gentile, cosy and welcoming Green Lantern. Both Carmel and the Green Lantern are a blast from the past, in the very nicest way possible. From the warm welcome to the cosy accommodation to the scrumptious breakfast, and not forgetting the lovey surprise of nibbles of cheese, crackers and fruit, these made our sadly brief stay in Carmel one that I will long to repeat again sometime in the future. If you're looking for a stop off on a US west coast road trip as we were, look no further than Carmel and the Green Lantern as an oasis of calm. If it's a longer trip to Carmel that you're planning, close the Green Lantern and relax in the beautiful, comfortable surroundings knowing that at least one person on this earth, me, is green with envy!

We had a lovely stay at the Green Lantern Inn. Very attentive innkeeper, cosy and clean rooms, a full breakfast spread, a collection of DVDs and books to borrow from the reception area ... And location was great.
