“Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

Greeted by Mark, what an excellent start. Coffee and cookie in reception nice after a long drive from LA. Room was cosy and comfortable and the fire was very welcome. Two step for our hotel and we were in the prestigious Ocean St. 5 mins down the street we were at the sea. Places to eat, quick, reasonably and good service was Hogs Breathe and Jack London's. Big Sur. is right on your doorsteps so explore knowing you have a nice place to rest your head upon your return.

Room Tip: Pay a little more and get a room on the street side

We had to cut our vacation short due to Hurricane Sandy, so we were only there for one night, but what a great night it was. Walked to the beach for a sunset and had dinner at a casual restaurant, Flanagan's pub, which was very good. The hotel is in walking distance of many fine and casual restaurants. It is also close to most of the state parks and Big Sur. One day we will return to finish our much anticipated vacation and request room 22. Thank you Los Lobos for the great customer service!!

Room Tip: Room 22 was just PERFECT

Lobos Lodge is gives you a spacious, private, room with a gas fireplace. The staff was pleasant and helpful and a continental breakfast is brought to your room each morning. It is only a few blocks from the beautiful beach with a view of Pebble Beach golf course.

Lobos Lodge is nestled among the streets of Carmel. I chose this place for price but was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of our room, the beautiful gardens and helpful staff. Our room had a fireplace, patio, suite and very large bathroom. It was beautifully decorated and clean. Each morning a staff member delivered a light breakfast, usually a fresh bagel, muffin or croissant with juice. Perfect start for the day. Everything was within walking distance, restaurants, shopping and the beach.
I would suggest an upper level room if possible. As with any hotel, a lower level can pick up room noises from above. That was the only drawback and a slim one compared to what all this charming place has to offer.
This will be my choice of hotels in Carmel upon a return trip.
Kudos to the owner and her dog 'Sofie'.

I used Trip Advisor to decide if we'd rather stay in Carmel or Monterey - so glad we picked Carmel. MUCH less congested than Monterey, more laid back, and lots of places within walking distance. The ocean is literally just a few blocks away. My wife needs gluten free food and a fabulous Italian place was right across the street, plus several others were very accomodating.

Lobos Lodge was the best combination of an almost bed and breakfast and suite hotel, but better. We typically stay at Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, etc. and that's fine with us - nothing over the top. Our Lobos Lodge room was rather large, had a gas fireplace, love seat, several tables, wifi, and just a very comfortable setting. They even asked about our breakfast preferences and brought it to our room each morning at the designated time. Real fruit, juice, and great muffins and croissants - basic but very good.

Most of the town does close up by 8 pm other than the bars, so do your shopping early. And if you shop, do bring a high credit line on your card, so be prepared.

We have been going to Carmel several times a year for 50 years. This time we had friends from Europe with us and were looking for a reasonably priced hotel with Carmel charm to give them a true experience of the area. Lobos Lodge fit the bill perfectly. It's right ON Ocean Avenue -- perfect location. It has charming gardens surrounding several different style rooms. And the rooms are VERY NICELY appointed. Staff were accommodating and it met our greatest expectations. We will recommend it and return often.

Room Tip: Each room is unique, as to views, balconies, stairways, etc. Be sure to specify any needs or desire...
