“Next time, we're staying longer for sure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

We got two rooms at this gem of a hotel for one night and enjoyed every moment. One of them was on the top floor, with a "cove view" that was absolutely amazing. The other was bigger, with an ocean view and a fireplace, and was so charming. Both had nice big patios. If we come back and stay longer, we'll definitely get the fireplace again.

The breakfast and the wine/cheese reception were both great, and the setting was perfect!

Service was friendly. Champagne and chocolates in our room were a real treat.

Room Tip: Rooms with fireplace are spacious and have great views. If you can only get a "cove view"...

The first time my husband and I stayed at the Tickle Pink was in 1987. Since then we have returned several times and each time we have been extremely pleased. The rooms are very nice and the staff is cordial. What we like the best is the view -- absolutely beautiful.

Stayed at the Tickle Pink Inn in mid-September. Truly a delightful place to stay when in Carmel. Room were cozy and nice. Awesome view of the ocean! Great balcony/patio with two lounge chairs. Nice room amenities; refrigerator, full sized coffee pot with Starbucks coffee. nice stereo for your music and complimentary champagne. Nice hotel amenities; complimentary breakfast buffet (best part - with a telephone call, they will place items from the buffet on a tray that you choose and deliver it to your room within 5 miniutes - wow!), complimentary wine and cheese happy hour, free parking, free WI-FI and hot tub. Other than the room cost and the room tax, there were no other charges on my invoice. Nice! Everyone at the hotel was pleasant and courteous. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for an ocean view room if it is available.

This was a special celebration of our 25th anniversary and we were able to stay in the same room we had stayed in 25 years before - The Crow's Nest. The view is fantastic and we were lucky that we had clear and beautiful days while we were there. Reserving the room was easily done online and I had asked for a specific room and luckily it was available. The room was just as we remembered although it has been renovated. It was clean and very nicely decorated. There is a sitting area with a nice fireplace (which we didn't use as it was fairly warm). The bed is up a small landing and has a great view of the ocean. It was comfortable and the pillows were not too stiff. The bathroom is a somewhat tight space but the shower was new and clean. The room has two tv's and a small refrigerator which enabled me to take home my food from dinner. There is a nice deck with chairs perfect for reading or ocean watching. The hotel staff was very friendly and sent up complimentary champagne and chocolates for our anniversary - a very nice touch! They offer complimentary breakfast in the morning which was very convenient. I do have a couple things I was not happy about - we could easily hear folks in the next room talking, plus they left their bathroom fan on for several hours at night which was bothersome when trying to sleep and the other issue is the Inn has a very small, hard to maneuver parking lot especially if you have a larger vehicle. When we returned home we discovered that someone had hit our bumper, probably while trying to turn around to get out. That was a bummer but otherwise our stay at the Tickle Pink Inn was a very romantic getaway.

This hotel sits above the bay with great views. They have a great happy hour with local wines and cheese every afternoon. Breakfasts are good. Our room was next to the managers room and just above the outdoor terrace where food is served. Not the one we would recommend. Try to get a room looking south over the coast. We would recommend an upper floor room as well. There is a hot tub, but it was so far from our room we were not even tempted to use it. We had a fireplace room which would be great in chilly weather, but would have changed had we known there are only 4 of them and we were restricted accordingly. All that said, however, the beds were great, it was quiet, view was beautiful and the staff helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor room facing south.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. The staff and accomodations are great
but the views are spectacular. The breakfast was very nice. We stayed at the adjacent Highlands Inn last year, this hotel is twice the hotel for about half the price for the same type of room. We won't stay anywhere else when we are in Carmel!!

In late July, I stayed at the Senator's Cottage with my sister and retired parents. This property has probably one of the most spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. There is a fireplace in the living room area, with a wet bar and refrigerator. I will warn visitors that although there is designated parking at the cottage, it is very easy to miss the turnoff from Highway 1 and the hill is extremely steep heading to the cottage, and the narrow parking area may be more challenging for SUV drivers. We had no problems, but we could see how the parking could pose challenges for owners of much larger vehicles.

We had to remind reception to bring our chilled bottle of champagne, but they were quick to bring it over. The champagne was a Spanish cava - unlike some reviewers, I did not expect a more expensive brand - it was perfectly adequate - I brought wine from my own cellar for later.

The warm homemade chocolate chip cookies was a nice touch in the afternoon and their happy hours featured cheeses and decent red and white wine - the wines reminded me what you would sip on a weeknight - not too fancy but pleasant. Cheese, crackers, olives, and bread was included. The breakfast the next morning was pleasant - strudel, scones, a savory egg dish which reminded me of quiche. The scones were quite tasty and the eggs were competently prepared. The only suggestion I have is to have more seating available indoors to take into account foggy weather. We were lucky to get a seat on the couch, and we ate quickly so we wouldn't monopolize the area, but I could see how congestion could become an issue if many guests opt not to have breakfast delivered to their unit. Delivery is not offered to the cottage, but it is offered to other units.

We had dinner at the Hyatt Hotel next door - we were mainly going for the view, but the food was quite good considering the restaurant was in a hotel.

If views are a high priority for you, as well as a quiet place to relax, Tickle Pink will work for you. There are outstanding dining options in nearby Carmel and Pacific Grove if you want a better value for dinner.

Room Tip: If you are traveling as a couple, you would probably be better off staying in a smaller unit. If you...
