“Charming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2011

After a terrible experience at Wayside Inn next door we were moved to this hotel by corporate office. Although for additional fee...but the room we moved into was very romantic with beautiful windows all around, gas fireplace. What made it special was Terry the gentleman who gave us a tour of the room, checked us inn and gave us a bottle of champagne for our anniversary. He was very charming! The breakfast brought to the room every morning was an awesome touch! and at night from 5 to 7 the inn holds a wind and cheese hour for its guests free of charge. We didn't take advantage of it but i think its pretty awesome! Location was perfect and central to everything. Thanks Carriage inn for coming to the rescue of our trip that started out pretty badly at Wayside Inn.

This B&B offers comfort, charm, and lots of service. Breakfast is delivered to your room. Snacks in the room or the lobby are free. Wine & cheese, etc. are served each evening from 5-7pm. The staff is absolutely terrific. My husband had an allergic reaction to something (not from this hotel) and they helped get us to the emergency room, and seemed genuinely concerned for his health. We had contact with 3 separate staff members and each of them was helpful and went out of their way to make our trip a success.

This is the second time we stayed at the Carraige House, it was even better then last year. Yes it has its little quirks etc. but not to many hotels make you feel at home. Snacks and drinks in the room included in tyhe price, a nice breakfast delivered to your room. The wine and cheese served at night, a movie available at the desk, books in the rooms. I really don't know what else you can ask for. The location of the hotel is also great, you can walk to as many resturants as you can count. The shops are also a very short walk away. It is not a family place, but Carmel doesn't seem to be a place for kids.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was like being back at Mom's. They had videos, milk and cookies, and breakfast! My husband and I had a great time.

Our stay at the Carriage House was wonderful from the moment we arrived until the day we left. We were warmly greeted and given a personal tour of the two rooms we had reserved (friends accompanied us). The rooms were gorgeous and beautifully decorated with Country French furniture. The bed was the most comfortable I've slept in at any hotel and the amenities were also exceptional. The staff were friendly and the wine and port served in the evening were a nice touch, as well. Would highly recommend the Carriae House Inn and look forward to returning there soon.

One of the cleanest B&B's we have stayed in! The room was nicely outfitted and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was an extended continental which was selected from a menu and brought to the room very promptly at the time we requested.
The bathroom was spartan and could do with a shelf on which to place items . The washbasin area was compact and separate from the bathroom, but had no towel rail/hooks for hand towels.
The staff, including Helen and Cathy, were friendly and helpful. They served wine and snacks late afternoon.
Location was perfect for exploring Carmel ; not too far from Ocean Ave, but far enough to give a private feel to the Inn's atmosphere.
The only reason we don't give maximum points to this B&B is that it needs some maintenance, which one would would not have expected for the upscale nature and price of the inn.
The casement window winding mechanisms were broken or failing and the securing levers jammed solid, which made opening and closing the windows very difficult indeed. The shower head rail was loose from the wall, and the toilet bowl was loose. Electrical outlet plates were loose and the outlets themselves were very worn, allowing plugs to fall out.The standard lamp was almost totally unscrewed from it's base.

We have visited The Carriage House often enough that we are now treated like family. Cathy the manager runs a first class Inn. She makes a special effort to make us feel special. The breakfasts are always hot or cold as the case demands. Parking is a challenge but very manageable. Great recommendations for restaurants are always available. The location of the Inn is accessible to the Carmel village just a block away. This Inn has been our favorite of several that we have tried.
