“Good place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

We rated HL "Very Good", but approaching "Excellent". Very co-operative inn keepers. Very friendly. Nicely kept. A bit small in the bathroom, especially the shower. Breakfasts were excellent and delivered promptly. Plus, they were tasty and warm. Located near-enough to the main drag and all the shops and restaurants, but not too close. The parking was a bit tight, but manageable. Check-in and check-out were as easy as it has ever been anywhere. A little too much on the pink side (for a macho guy, but OK by the wife), but the decor was overall very tasteful.

We came to Carmel to escape all the fireworks in our area, which scare my dog. Very much enjoyed our stay - the Inn is only two blocks off the main street and a few blocks from the ocean. The beach is also pet-friendly. The Inn was quiet and clean, and having breakfast delivered to the room was a true luxury. Hope to come back in the future!

Room Tip: #5 was small and intimate, perfect for 1-2 people.

This was a nice little B&B only 1 1/2 blocks from Ocean Ave (the main street) in Carmel, and only 4 blocks from the beautiful and serene Carmel Beach. I have nothing but good things to say about the comfort of the bed, the coziness of the room, and the friendliness of the staff. Breakfast was tasty and filling.

The only thing I didn't love was the shower, which was kind of cramped. We stayed in "Room 1," so your experience may vary.

I'd definitely recommend this place, and I'd definitely stay again!

This is a great location to walk to the beach or walk all around town. It has a nice little garden with table and chairs to sit and relax and read. This place was built in 1913, so it is old,but charming, and very clean, It is a good place for the price, and they give you a very nice breakfast,,orange juice, fresh fruit cup, a sweet cake or muffin and quiche, and coffee or tea , so you get a lot for your money, but it is old, BUT very clean, and it is pet friendly, thats for sure.

Room Tip: we really like room 6, next to the office , and convenient to parking.

Great location, just a couple of minutes walk to main shopping precinct in Carmel(cafes, restaurants, galleries, etc).Just 2 minutes drive downhill to the beach. We had a small cosy room with vaulted ceilings, the bed was SO comfortable and we felt very relaxed and at home.Pretty gardens and our hostess Dawn provided a warm continental breakfast in our room in the morning. We appreciated her help and advice on the local area.

We are so thrilled to have come across the Happy Landing Inn when searching for a venue for our wedding ceremony as well as a B&B to have our family stay in over the weekend. The moment we saw the picturesque courtyard and adorable 7 rooms we knew it was perfect. The owners, Dawn and Diane, were so incredibly hospitable and helpful to us during the planning process and were both absolutely invaluable during the wedding weekend. Our family loved the beautiful rooms and the great location in the village (a short walk to the beach and just down the street from fabulous restaurants and cafes). It was peaceful and serene (good for keeping us all relaxed during the hectic time). We hired a string duo for the brick alcove in the courtyard and with the gorgeous flowers and decor already at the B&B we didn't need to decorate any further. We also hosted our rehearsal dinner in the great room and everything was so perfect. Our guests keep telling us how "fairy-tale" esque the B&B was and I already have a girlfriend asking about it for her wedding. All in all The Happy Landing Inn was exactly what we were dreaming of for our special day and intimate gathering of friends and family. We can't wait to stay there again. Thank you so much for everything! xx

Room Tip: Corner suites are large with living room and huge, comfy beds.

I have stayed in Carmel for nearly forty years and have stayed in at least half of the hotels. Since happening upon the Happy Landing Inn about ten years ago, I will stay nowhere else. My family (including my Welsh Corgi) just love it. In a sea of ridiculously expensive dog hotels, this one is quiet, clean, charming, close to everything and the owners are lovely. We had considered buying our own Carmel house, but thought better of it. Dawn and her adorable dog Kody, go out of their way to make our stay exceptional from start to finish. If it isn't the dog treats, the free DVD's or the recommendations, it's the tasty breakfast and the late check-out. Dawn will do her best to get us the room we want (even though we have probably stayed in every room) and will happily bring us a refrigerator, wine glasses, futons, and a sheet for our dog (so he can go on the bed). When we first started coming many years ago, the former owner only had one dog room. Now, most are dog rooms, and yet the inn smells clean and fresh. I have a very sensitive nose and I commend the owners on how great everything smells from the lobby to the rooms. Dawn and her partner did a lot of renovation after they purchased the property. We were worried that the prices would go up too much, but they did not. We could easily afford to come here every month and if I get my way, that is what we will do.

Room Tip: We love the two suites because we bring our boys, but all the rooms are charming.
