“A quaint,hansel and gretel place.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

This is a great location to walk to the beach or walk all around town. It has a nice little garden with table and chairs to sit and relax and read. This place was built in 1913, so it is old,but charming, and very clean, It is a good place for the price, and they give you a very nice breakfast,,orange juice, fresh fruit cup, a sweet cake or muffin and quiche, and coffee or tea , so you get a lot for your money, but it is old, BUT very clean, and it is pet friendly, thats for sure.

Room Tip: we really like room 6, next to the office , and convenient to parking.

Great location, just a couple of minutes walk to main shopping precinct in Carmel(cafes, restaurants, galleries, etc).Just 2 minutes drive downhill to the beach. We had a small cosy room with vaulted ceilings, the bed was SO comfortable and we felt very relaxed and at home.Pretty gardens and our hostess Dawn provided a warm continental breakfast in our room in the morning. We appreciated her help and advice on the local area.

We are so thrilled to have come across the Happy Landing Inn when searching for a venue for our wedding ceremony as well as a B&B to have our family stay in over the weekend. The moment we saw the picturesque courtyard and adorable 7 rooms we knew it was perfect. The owners, Dawn and Diane, were so incredibly hospitable and helpful to us during the planning process and were both absolutely invaluable during the wedding weekend. Our family loved the beautiful rooms and the great location in the village (a short walk to the beach and just down the street from fabulous restaurants and cafes). It was peaceful and serene (good for keeping us all relaxed during the hectic time). We hired a string duo for the brick alcove in the courtyard and with the gorgeous flowers and decor already at the B&B we didn't need to decorate any further. We also hosted our rehearsal dinner in the great room and everything was so perfect. Our guests keep telling us how "fairy-tale" esque the B&B was and I already have a girlfriend asking about it for her wedding. All in all The Happy Landing Inn was exactly what we were dreaming of for our special day and intimate gathering of friends and family. We can't wait to stay there again. Thank you so much for everything! xx

Room Tip: Corner suites are large with living room and huge, comfy beds.

I have stayed in Carmel for nearly forty years and have stayed in at least half of the hotels. Since happening upon the Happy Landing Inn about ten years ago, I will stay nowhere else. My family (including my Welsh Corgi) just love it. In a sea of ridiculously expensive dog hotels, this one is quiet, clean, charming, close to everything and the owners are lovely. We had considered buying our own Carmel house, but thought better of it. Dawn and her adorable dog Kody, go out of their way to make our stay exceptional from start to finish. If it isn't the dog treats, the free DVD's or the recommendations, it's the tasty breakfast and the late check-out. Dawn will do her best to get us the room we want (even though we have probably stayed in every room) and will happily bring us a refrigerator, wine glasses, futons, and a sheet for our dog (so he can go on the bed). When we first started coming many years ago, the former owner only had one dog room. Now, most are dog rooms, and yet the inn smells clean and fresh. I have a very sensitive nose and I commend the owners on how great everything smells from the lobby to the rooms. Dawn and her partner did a lot of renovation after they purchased the property. We were worried that the prices would go up too much, but they did not. We could easily afford to come here every month and if I get my way, that is what we will do.

Room Tip: We love the two suites because we bring our boys, but all the rooms are charming.

I spent a long time going through dog-friendly accommodations and Happy Landing was without a doubt, the most affordable. They also offered the option to book just one night. Many of the other options required a 2 if not 3 night stay.
I figured that since they weren't like the other B&Bs that the rooms would stink or the service would not be up to par and that was not the case at all. I found the staff to be very friendly and the room was adorable. Breakfast in the morning was simple and delicious. The location was great as well. A short walk to all that Carmel has to offer.

We stayed here years ago when we were young and we're so looking forward to returning; you can't go home again.
Room and registration room were in need of a good dusting, and smelled of dog . Towels and bath mats needed replacing. Freshly painted bath had bugs stuck in the dried paint. I know it happens but then clean it. While still quaint and a charming idea it just wasn't what it used to be.

My daughter took me to Carmel for a pre-Mother's Day overnight trip. She has stayed at Happy Landing Inn before because their accommodations for pet owners are reasonably priced. I was truly surprised at the quaintness of the facility. Just a few bungalows surrounding a lovely garden setting. We arrived after the management had turned in for the evening, but our room key was waiting for us. The bungalow we stayed in was pleasantly appointed, from a female point of taste. Because the facility is "pet friendly" they provided a sheet to protect the bed covering for dogs who enjoy sleeping on beds. Breakfast, though listed as continental, consisted of a tray delivered to our room of coffee, blueberry muffin, quiche and FRESH fruit cup. We were 1-1/2 block from Ocean Avenue and about 3 blocks walking distance to the beach. I would stay again!
