“Nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

we spent one night at the sheraton carlsbad , willing to visit Legoland.
The hotel is really nice, large pool, large jacuzzi, ping pong and chess game @ the pool. To bas some electri wires are kind of ruining the view. We ate at the pool, the food was great, it took 1 hour to be served, ( lots of orders but they are a bit slow).

the room was nice and big. The beds are really confy. We loved the welcome we received both at the reception, and the concierge was super nice and helpful.

The private way to access legoland is super great! Take you directly to the back of th park.

We loved it very much. On the same site as the Sheraton there is a condo resort, we will go there next time, as we love the confort of having 2 bedrooms, and it offers the acess to the private access as well and great pools.
We will be back to Legoland, kids had so mluch fun( even if they are 9 and 11 and roller coaster addicts, they had fun playing simple lego games).

Thanking you for choosing the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa. We understand that you have many choices when traveling. I am please to hear that you and your family enjoyed your time with us. We do hope that we have the opportunity to take care of you again. We do have suites with a connecting room that might accommodate the family better on space. We will be happy to assist in any way we can.

I was afraid of the Sheraton being stampeded by Legoland families. Not so! We went mid week in September and enjoyed a quiet getaway. The lobby is spacious and contemporary. The front desk person was pleasant and helped us with altering our reservation seamlessly.
The room was better than average. It was large and had a different configuration than the norm. I love little foyers with lighting and art. The bedding was delightful. The nod to a balcony was just enough to squeeze out there and watch the sunset over the ocean. Lovely views and a great location. but it would have been nice to have a larger outside space. There is construction going on across the street but this was not an issue.
Since Hotel Impossible has been aired, I fancy myself as Anthony Melchiorri and get a bit crazy noticing every detail. The only thing I found off putting was the filthy air filter visible through the air conditioning vent. Everything else was spotless and right on!
Room Service was prompt and the crabcakes delicious. We ate dinner at Twenty/ Twenty and enjoyed that as well. The valet people provided a shuttle ride downtown which was really a great feature for us wine drinkers. The hot tub was being refilled, a big disappointment for an entire gray foggy day. I find it annoying to pay for parking at a hotel in a suburban location. Why? I also wince at a resort fee. Why not just give us one rate that covers everything? The prices posted are appealing (and misleading) but then with the additional fees, it gets pricey. We will return here and do recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Ocean view and high up!

I took my son to Legoland last month for his birthday and we loved staying here. The hotel is very nice and clean, with clean and modern public spaces and very nice rooms. The beds were totally comfortable and the service was outstanding. For example, we weren't happy with our first room and one of the managers personally came out to the room with the keys to other rooms and took us on a little tour until we found one to our liking. We had a little patio to sit on which was nice, and it was an easy walk to the pool (which looked nice but which we did not use as we were at Legoland the whole time). The food was not bad, although it was also nothing special. The main draw is the hotel's proximity to everything in carlsbad. You are 10 min from the beach, 3 minutes to the outlets, and a quick 5 min walk to a private entrance to LegoLand. One thing to note about that however, is that this entrance actually opens an hour LATER than the main gate. So, while you don't have to deal with parking, you will not be getting a jump on the crowds.

This hotel is one of the few 4 star or better hotels in the area, so a great option if you are this far north in the county and need somewhere to stay. It is adjacent to Legoland, so you do have to expect a high population of children at the hotel; it was great for me because I have a 4month old son, but if you want peace and quiet by the pool and don't have children, you should probably look elsewhere. I used a promo code I found online to buy 2 nights and get a 3rd free, and it worked perfectly. I called the day before and asked about early check-in, and they don't do it over the phone. That is one of the very few downfalls of this hotel. The lady on the phone just said to come by when we were ready to check-in. I live in San Diego, and this was just sort of a "stay cation" for a relative's wedding, so I would be ready to check-in whenever the room was ready. On the day I checked in, I only had to wait about an hour for our room (about 1:00 pm we got to our room.) I would say that 95% of the staff at this hotel are extremely helpful, and the other 5% are just mediocre. The valet staff is superb; One woman at the front desk went out of her way to help us the entire weekend and I wish I had remembered her name. From getting extra things to our room (baby crib, iPod dock) to just being helpful and knowledgable about everything during our stay. Others working there seemed bothered when I would ask for something. The heated pool is amazing; the restaurant is pretty good. I will definitely stay here in the future because of it's location, pool, and amazing staff.

Sheraton Carlsbad is the place to be for your Staycation! Thanks for choosing us and taking the time to post about your stay. I understand the need for an early check at the hotel and we wish that we could accommodate everyone. In our summer months we are at 100% capacity and work very hard to get the rooms ready for our arriving guest. We are always happy to store luggage while the family enjoys the pool or heads to LEGOLAND. We hope we on the list for the next weekend get-away, we have a great Kid’s New Years Eve planed. Come out and join us!

This Sheraton's Twenty/20 bar & grill made us not want to leave the hotel. Their knowledgable staff and cool view made for an awesome weekend. Steve created a great bacon/maple cocktail and he was able to make something special for the wife on the spot. Happy wife, happy life!

Well...we should have known what we were in store for when we saw that Leggo Land was one of the local attractions. But, alas my husband and I gave it a try since the photos were so beautiful. The staff was very nice and very professional....except for some girl who worked the reception desk in the spa. We found her to be a bit snotty and pretentious...I felt like telling her "Seriously??? You are at a spa at the Sheraton (not the Four Seasons) in Carlsbad (Beverly Hills)." All in all it is a clean resort that is well-cared for. For us it slips to an average rating largely due to the location.

Room Tip: If you ask for an ocean view room...be sure the view doesn't include the entrance to Leggo Land...

We booked here after a horrible experience with the Sheraton Suites SanDiego, and boy were we glad we found this gem.
The reception area is beautiful, the staff was always friendly and helpful. The pool is lovely and open 24 hours as is the fitness center.
The rooms were very nice, spacious and super clean. The restaurant 20/20 has good food, the service is a bit on the slow side but other than that, it was reasonably priced and worked well with the kids.
The best little treat that we did not know about was their private walk way to Lego Land. This was great, saved us time and was so convenient.
Also, they had a "Dive-In" movie for the kids on Saturday night. This resort is very kid friendly and I would highly recommend it for anyone coming to the area.
