We stayed at the La Costa Resort and Spa for a weekend for a bridal shower. There were 7 girls, thus we were a larger group of patrons. The rooms were fantastic, spacious, clean. No complaints. The beds were very comfortable!
We went to the Spa on a Sunday morning when they opened at 830am and I was a bit disappointed. I didn't get a service done like a massage or facial, I just enjoyed the amenities like the dry sauna room, wet steam room, whirlpool, etc. The day pass was $60 if you weren't getting a service done. There is a big retail space selling various lotions/skincare products from Kai, La Costa's own brand of lotions, Eminence, and other vendors so the selection is good.
The interior of the spa was a bit small and outdated in my opinion. Very clean though. There was only a small rectangular whirlpool, one small dry cedar wood sauna, one steam room, and multiple showers with curtains. Only water, tea, nuts, apples, pretzels were offered. NO coffee!! WTH?? I was a bit disappointed at them not serving coffee. The service was exceptional with the spa girls being very attentive in fetching used towels, clearing the areas of used bathrobes and shoes. I guess I'm used to the larger, more grand, more upscale spas in Vegas like the spas at the Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Aria. Wynn. I guess I'm a spa "brat" as I have very high expectations.
The rectangular whirlpool is in the middle of the spa and in the dry cedar wood sauna, you can hear ENTIRE conversations of loud guests and patrons. Older crowd of women in their 50's/60s discussing their kids going off to college, about their divorces, kids getting bad grades in school, soccer practices, etc. It was rather annoying that sound resonates in the spa. No sound control. I was very annoyed as I really did NOT want to hear about people's divorces, kids' soccer schedules, bad grades, husbands being unfaithful, etc while I was quietly sitting in the dry sauna minding my own business trying desperately to relax. There was no spa music like Enya playing at all so it wasn't all that relaxing. I think I'll save my $ for Vegas spas where it's more upscale!
