“Easy access to beach, good resort amenities, super friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2014

The first person I came contact was with Andrea. I made a call asking for a nice ocean view room. She immediately said no problem. I was a little wary about her being so eager so quickly. But when we all arrived, not only did we get it, I got it on the top floor. How nice!

All of the staff was super friendly. The facility and rooms were immaculate too. There were two pools, one for kids, one for adults. They were both very nice and comfortable. The adult pool occasionally had kids in it when the kid pool was closed, but it was at the end of the day.

The events that take place during the week were great for both adult and kids. My kids had fun winning stuff of course. The adults were served complimentary sangria/soda and snacks.

Overall it was a very good trip. A complimentary welcome breakfast was served and afternoon burgers and hotdogs was a nice addition. There is no restaurant on site. I really didn't matter because supermarkets were everywhere.

Room Tip: They are all good rooms but try to stay on the 3rd/top floor as its the best view

Green Features: I'm not sure, but I do believe they had recycle bins in the lobby.

The staff here was very friendly and helpful. The rooms (3 bdrm) were very nice. The master suite was very comfortable. Had trouble with the air conditioning and maintenance was right on it and corrected the problem promptly. Very centrally located, San Diego attractions all very cloe (Sea world & zoo)

We have stayed here before and are owners at Marbrisa. The resort is nice, great pool and activities for the kids. Great place to stay if you are going to Legoland. The only complaint was at check-in. They only had two employees working and it was very slow.......

Also, don't wait to see if these guys offer discounts for Legoland tickets unless you want to sit through the time share deal for 90 minutes. Buy your tickets on line and as far out as you can to save the most.

Room Tip: As for an ocean view

We had been looking for a nice, clean, resort-y, family-friendly hotel near the beach, that we could visit each summer with our kids and grandkids. We have now stayed her twice, most recently the past four days including the 4th of July. It's pretty amazing.

High points: although this is a family-dedicated resort, they have a luxurious adult pool and hot tub with a view of the ocean!

Great service, thoughtful kind workers, 95%-clean rooms which are well-maintained, beautiful grounds, activities for the kids, free internet, fast and professional room service from an on-site restaurant (they even deliver to the pools), a "family pool" with a play area, a toddler playground/play structure; very nice fitness room for adults; I could go on. But here is the very best feature: they have "Villa" rooms with full kitchen! It is fully equipped with large and small appliances, dishes, silverware, pots and pans, etc. Although these rooms are more expensive, you can save a ton of cash by bringing food from home and eating in - especially convenient with toddlers and little kids. We economized by bringing breakfast cereal and milk, snacks, sandwich fixings, and beverages, including alcohol.

The resort goes out of their way to have activities for the kids. On the 4th of July, they closed off the front entryway and put out lawn chairs so the guests could watch fireworks from Legoland. There's a feeling of fun here, and an acceptance of the weird, lovely, challenging phenomenon called childhood.

Lower points: On the first full day, I began taking my small grandkids to use the bathroom in the fitness center as the women's restroom near the pool was A PIG STY. APPALLING. Also, the little kids' play structure outside the pool area needs cleaning. Finally, the beds and pillows in our room (high 200s in the Villa area) were a bit tired. In fact, the furniture is getting that "can't clean it any more" look (discolored/gray arms on the upholstered chairs).

And this was a bummer: we rented a cabana in the family pool area for July 4, about $150 for the day (8am - 4pm). After lunch we all went back to our rooms for naps. After lunch there was somebody else in our cabana! They were uncomfortable but resolved to stay, as they had paid the half-day price! Awkward. My husband and I agreed we'd had enough sun and went to the front desk to ask for a 50% refund, which we got without quarrel. The staffer was embarrassed and gracious. These things happen. All in all, a wonderful stay, which we look forward to repeating.

Green Features: Could do a better job. I threw away aluminum cans, sad that the hotel wasn't recycling. Later I found out they intended the second trashcan under the sink (neither was labeled) for recycling. They are missing out on some low-hanging fruit.

This is a great family friendly hotel. Separate lap pool and jacuzzi for adults on top of the hill with a view of Carlsbad and ocean. The flower fields were not in bloom during this time but would have been an even better view. The kids pool is in a separate area with a water playground and jacuzzi. Also an awesome activity center for restless kids that include free ping pong, foosball, table hockey, pool table, and more.

Rooms were in excellent condition and have balcony to sit and enjoy some outdoor reading. Beds were memory foam and amazingly comfortable and i slept like a log. If you skip the maid service they will provide you a $5 voucher for conservation efforts.

They have many activities planned throughout the week. During our stay they had a magic show and a free wine tasting. Wonderful experience for the parents here and enough to keep the kids busy.

The grand pacific palisades is good overall for a family vacation. It is in very close proximity to Legoland ( walking distance ) and has a reasonable pool , playing area for kids, and A small water park. The rooms are big ( we had a one bed condo which accommodates 4 ) . The hotel is not super luxurious and is slightly old but well kept. The hotel has parking and wifi but you pay resort fee to account for these. The food at its karl Strauss was good and above average. Overall it was good
