“Bad Location, nice view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

I stayed here on a business trip and it located on top of hill, No easy access to premium outlets, or restaurants in the town. They will drive you there for free and pick you up though. The hotel was very clean and the staff very professional. Great view of the gardens and the Pacific Ocean. Legoland is across the street. No on site food, must go to Karl Strauss in the parking lot.
Room was excellent everything in working order. Has a adult only pool and a kid friendly pool. Nice place to vaction

Room Tip: ask you room on the garden side

Traded in our timeshare for a week at the Palisades. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. At check-in we were greeted with chocolates and sparkling wine. The resort's manager,Holly, came by to introduce herself and the person I spoke to make the arrangements also introduced himself(Anthony) and he was very helpful. Mona, at the front desk was able to sell me tickets to attractions at a nice discount. The staff could not be lovelier. We were in building C which had a view of the ocean in the distance, this resort is not near the beach. Great if you have young children because Legoland and Sea Life are around the corner. It does have a large pool, hot tub, basketball area, children's playground, teen playroom and area to BBQ. It does not have tennis courts or golf. The room was large with gas fireplace and nicely appointed kitchen area, it did lack a washer and dryer that when we have rented timeshares usually have, there are coin operated one on the floor. The bed were comfortable and the closets ample. The unit could use some updating but all-in-all was clean and neat. The week we were there was unseasonably cold so we never used the outdoor facilities. Karl Strauss restaurant was in the complex and has great food. Would have preferred to been closer to San Diego, about a 30 minute drive. If you do not have young children and want to be near great restaurants and culture stay nearer to San Diego, this is a much more young family friendly resort and town.

Room Tip: If you want to use the pool and spa ask the front desk to be placed closer. Certain rooms face towar...

That was the first day we starting our Welcome Champagne Reception. I am so happy you had a nice time and hopefully you will return soon. We are planning a unit remodel in April, so the next time you visit, the rooms will be updated. :)

We have stayed at this hotel as part of the Hilton Vacation Club 3 times and have had a great experience each time. It is close to Downtown Carlsbad, the train to go to San Diego or Orange County, the ocean or outlet malls. The staff is courteous and helpful and the facility is being regularly updated. And there is always Legoland for the kids or Karl Strauss' restrauant if the adults want to get away to somewhere close. We plan to stay here regularly....

Room Tip: Go for an ocean view and stay away from the NOrth side.

We had a wonderful time with my parents and my family at the Grand Pacific Palisades during our recent trip to Southern California. We were there in the off season so there were not a lot of people around. The weather was on the cool side but because of the heated kids pool and kids hot tub, we still were able to enjoy being outdoors. The splash pad and playground were greatly enjoyed by our daughter. We really liked the full kitchen. We saved a ton of money by buying our groceries and making some of our meals in the condo. On the premises is Karl Strauss restaurant. It was fantastic. There is a huge selection of beer's with knowledgeable and friendly staff, and the food was to die for. The only complaint would be the massive portion sizes but we found that par for the course on our entire visit to Southern California. Split and entree and you can't beat the value! Legoland is a quick 5 min walk across the street, and if you have a vehicle it is a quick drive to the Freeway to take you up or down the coast. There are coin-op laundry facilities all over the resort which is convenient. The entry way is gorgeous as well as the beautiful lobby with a view of the Pacific which is fantastic at sundown. There is an adult pool and hot tub outside of the lobby which is a little warmer than the children's pool and hot tub. Awesome fitness club as well! My mother had a massage which she said it was wonderful.

All in all great value for what we needed!

Room Tip: We were on the third floor of three by the children's pool which was great for us. Fitness club...

We stayed here with the family after signing up for a Hilton Vacations timeshare offer. We didn't know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is right next to Legoland which was the main reason we stayed here. Legoland is just a quick walk to the park entrance. The pools at the hotel are great and heated. They have a lot of kids activities which the kids enjoyed. The rooms were fairly small but worked out fine. We all liked the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. The staff was great especially the concierge staff. They were very informative and helped with a number of requests. I'd stay here again.

Won't stay here again. Filthy dirty and old outdated furniture (see picks) in room. Room 248 on 2nd floor (2 bdrm) facing pool is not good . Had to leave deck one night as fellow guest was wading, hacking up loogies and spitting them out in pool (thought I was gonna barf). No hair dryer in either bath. We waited an hour for them to deliver but never showed up. When we returned late that night one was wrapped around room's door handle . Took me quite a while to get it all untangled (very strange "service"?). Heavy sale pitches for the new property they are building. Why would I even consider buying there when they can't even keep this place up to par? One of the strangest things was that hot water filled the toilet in the master bedroom's bath when you flush. Lots of traffic congestion going in and out of legoland Hilton needs to get their act together on this place.

All was good except the mattress pad made a sort of squeaky noise when you move on the bed. Two materials must be not compatible. The hotel was clean, comfortable and in a great area. The mattress issue was the only negative.
