“4.5 Star in our backyard!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2011

Our stay began with a winning ticket from a silent auction: Two nights at the Pelican Inn, that was ten years ago. Living in North County of San Diego, I never thought about staying at an Inn close to our home, but Nancy and her wonderful staff have changed all that. No need to repeat the other guest reviews, everything is true! As far as walking to the beach “Head West” and you are there. A short walk “do-North will lead you into charming downtown Carlsbad, “ the village”. Save yourself the headache and walk into town, anytime. Stay along the coast route and you won’t be disappointed. Some of the neighbors don’t have a 5-star appearance, but the neighborhood is very save, and you are on the beach. Have a great stay and keep a room open for us!

We and our friends chose this B&B for its great location and wonderful location to the ocean and downtown. Nancy was the best in her friendliness, knowledge of the area, and kindness to us all. She made my celebration very special at breakfast with a candle placed in her scrumtious french toast. We all enjoyed the "at home" feeling we received as soon as we walked into the inn. Thank you again for a wonderful weekend. I am sure we will be back soon.

There are a lot of great things about this place. The location is a great spot just a few blocks away from the ocean to the west, or the quaint main street to the NE. I's also very QUIET, especially at night. The rooms are very comfortable with fluffy feather beds and down pillows. The breakfasts we had were all excellent, and had us anticipating what we would get to try next. The coffee was very good. We both wanted to stay there and never go back!

Most memorable though is the innkeeper Nancy, who really went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. There were a lot of little things like extra pillows, good directions, cookies in the afternoon, an extra pancake thrown on the grill etc. Best-in-class service and attention.

This is our first B & B experience and it has been amazing. The neighborhood is quiet and the property is just beautiful. Upon arriving, we were greeted warmly by the owner Nancy who immediately took us up to our beautiful room where we found our accommodations to be perfect. It is clear that every effort was taken by the owners to insure 100% guest comfort. The carpet, furniture, & bathroom are all in beautiful condition, nicely decorated, and perfectly clean. Breakfast is just like going to a dear friend's house to eat and the food is beyond delicious! In the late afternoons we walked to the nearby beautiful beach each day to see a lovely sunset before a stroll to the village for dinner. The owners of Pelican Cove Inn are so pleased to provide to their guests all the comforts of home. We plan to return, as others frequently do - year after year. We highly recommend this property.

I stayed over 15 nights at the inn for business and could not have been happier with the room, service, breakfast or the inn host Nancy. I stayed in the Newport room which was small but fine for a single person; it was super clean, tranquil and comfortable. The location was good, only 40 minutes to the San Diego airport and easy commuting to San Marcos for meetings. The beach is a short easy walk just two blocks away and even on weekends was not too crowded. The inn host Nancy is gracious and seems to think of everything to make your stay pleasant. Breakfast was always delicious; Nancy always inlcuded fresh fruit and her coffee is especially yummy. She provided me a stainless to go cup to use during my stay and learned my specific likes for breakfast. I am looking forward to my next business trip to this area. I will definitley be staying at the Pelican Inn again.

This is a darling B&B in Carlsbad CA run by a very lovely & gracious lady, Nancy, who is also a fabulous cook (& she'll give you a copy of the recipes!). It is just a short walk to the beach, shops, dining etc., so it's very conveniently located as well. Try it---you won't be disappointed!

Pelican Cove Inn was terrific; as a B&B, it was top-notch! We stayed in the Newport Room - which was fabulous! The featherbed was comfy, the gas fireplace charming, and the very high beamed cupola ceiling was gorgeous. Nancy (the innkeeper) was energetic and friendly and the breakfasts were scrumptious! The location is only two blocks from Carlsbad beach, yet the inn was pretty quiet. It seems that families and couples stay there mainly, and she has a lot of repeat visitors. Of course, since this is a B&B it lacks the amenities that a fancy hotel would have; but it is more than made up for by charm and delicious food. We will definitely be staying there again.
